From a Roll WOT Wheel Spin

Hello,

I'm a new owner of an E55 and not quite sure how fast these things are supposed to be. Don't get me wrong though, the car is really fast, but I made a huge jump in hp cars and never driven something with this much power.

I keep hearing people talk about WOT from a roll and having their ESP light blink. For a stock car, around what mph should I be going then being able to floor it and have ESP kick in? Is this even a valid way to test power? Haha.

Sometimes my car feels really fast and sometimes not as fast...One time I was cruising at 30 mph and floor it in D with kickdown and I saw the ESP light come on, but sometimes when I floor it in D at like 10-20 mph I can't get that to happen.

I'm pretty sure my supercharger didn't shut off because I wouldn't even be doing any hard runs. But this brings me to my next question: How does it actually feel to have the supercharger shut off? Is it sarcasm when people say you floor it and you really don't go anywhere? I read that the usual amount of hard pulls before it shuts off is 3-4 back to back, and I did that to try to experience the supercharger shutting off, but didn't feel like if I floor it I didn't go anywhere.

Any other ways to test if my car is up to par? I don't have any equipment to check my boost or IAT, though.

By the way, I'm running completely stock, even Conti tires.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Mmk, thanks, gonzjed.

However, is it just mental that I think my car goes faster sometimes and slower others?

Before the supercharger shuts off, are there any signs? Loss of power? Does it go from 100% to 0%?

Thanks!

search the forum for the procedure to reset the ECU. every time my car feels like a dog, that takes care of it.

First: Complete your profile so we know what year car you have.

Second: Anything 30 and under should brake the tires and cause the ESP light to come on with a stock E55.

If you ever wanna feel what it's like when supercharger is off.

Get the car going about 25-30 mph in M mode....put it in 4th or 5th and stomp it.

Just boooooooogggss. Pretty much what it is like. Only it never makes it finally to upper rpms and power band.

Just sits there flat. Happened to me in the old days as I was passing someone....terrifying.

I run 295s in the rear and mine will definitely smoke the tires at anything under 40mph.

Some of it may be gearing. i can tell you that it will get a nice bark at 60, just because of the drop in gears.

If you really wanna fell no SC, take the belt off.

Don't do that...It puts a lot of unwanted stress and pressure on the crank shaft, hence the reason for automatic down shifting...
