Can the trunklid star badge be removed cleanly?

Can the trunklid star badge be removed cleanly?
or is recessed into the metalwork?

I know it can because they had to remove mine to get it refinished. Exactly how they removed is another question...it isn't recessed in though.

The star itself can be removed but I believe there are either 2 or 3 holes to hold the emblem in.

Don't quote me on it though

There are three holes in the trunk that have some plastic rivets that hold the star in place. Ive always been more worried about the car paint than the star, so i break the star (or bend it) to get it off. Then, you just buy a new one for $15 and have it painted.
