way to change cruise from increments of 5mph?

Driving me nuts here.. is there a way to program the car to accelerate or vice-versa in 1mph increments as opposed to the 5mph it does now?

i dont have e55 so i might be wrong. but i just got a 2008 for a loaner and first 2 mins, it bugged me too. i think u have two 'stops' on each side..if u fainly touch the lever up, it will go only 1mph up. if you pull the lever 'fully' it will go to the nearest X5 or X0s (e.g. 65, 70, 75 etc)

I can change my cruise in 1mph increments. Not sure how to do it as this was the standard setting. Was the operator's manual not helpful?

Hmmm.. I didn't see it in the manual (I did get lost in the 400 pages though) but I'm gonna try all suggestions. Thanks, guys.

This is going to sound weird, but if you lightly touch the cruise stalk, it should change in the 1mph increments...it's when you firmly push the stalk that it will change by 5mph...it's different on all models, some have the 5mph feature and some do not.

There are two "stops" on the cruise stalk, BOTH up (for increase) and down (decrease). If you slightly hit the stalk to the first stop, its 1 MPH increment. If you go past the first stop to the second (top stop) its 5 MPH. No way to change it.

I finally got to test all the great suggestions here. In my '04, pulling the stalk towards me increases it by one. There is no stepped decrease though. This helps me stay sane though though. Now if I can just figure out why the TPMS is off 3-4lbs on one tire. Onwards and upwards! Thanks guys.

mine does this....mine does that....yours should do so...

there is:
1) distronic
2) cruise control up to 2007 models
3) cruise control 2007 and up

...and they all work different...
