How much should one pay to have rotors and pads installed on all 4? Is $250 reasonable or on the high side? This would be done by a MB Master Tech.

$50 on the side. It would be easiest to lump it in with other work, since most techs don't like to work for $50. That is assuming you do the squeeze method and not the press (which takes labor).

I'm thinking it's quite a bit of work for $50.

It's a rather easy job. You should be able to do it by yourself or with a friend for free.

Yeah...next time I'll do it myself. I actually had it done and probably paid too much because of a misunderstanding. Instead of ruining a good relationship with a cool guy I decided not to say anything and just pay. The funny thing about it is that my brother owns a mechanic shop with 3 lifts. I was just trying to stick a little extra money in his pocket, but not that much. Either way he's a cool guy and it wouldn't have been worth it to argue about a few dollars. I was just curious what most would pay to have it done on the side.

You're right on that one.........I wouldn't even unlock my toolbox if someone offered me $50 to do that job. $200-250 is more like it since that's still about HALF of what you'd pay the stealership to do the same job.

Thanks. That's another reason why I didn't say anything, I had no idea what MB would charge. He's a cool guy and always willing to help me out... don't want to ruin that relationship.

I ended up getting Evosport Rotors with Red Stuff pads. The difference in weight was huge! James from Creative gave me a great deal on both rotors and pads. My front rotors I took off are almost brand new, maybe 800 miles on them .

I agree, even $200 would be light. A good rule of thumb if a tech doesn't charge enough, he dose not know what he is doing. run
