Arizona Residents: Vehicle Sales Tax

Just purchased house in AZ, not entirely sure on process of vehicle licensing, but probably purchasing new car so......

I understand that buying a used AZ titled car, I would pay no sales tax..... What about buying a used out of state car, and registering in AZ - Sales tax then or not? If you pay sales tax on new AZ vehicles, what about buying a brand new NY or CA car (whatever the case) and registering the vehicle in AZ - Sales tax then or not?
Thanks!

Used from in state or out of state no sales tax. New or used from dealer in or out of state you will have to pay sales tax when registering vehicle. Will charge tax according to address you live in.
If you home is your winter residence and your current state has cheaper registration costs then title them in your current state. So to save on sales tax, buy private party, no dealers license transactions. If by chance you do find a deal you can't pass up and buy from out of state dealer, then have the dealer write up the bill of sale with sales tax included in deal. If it's paid in another state you won't have to pay it here. Our registration costs are higher than some states so you may want to compare. Again if your full time in AZ then you will have to register here. A trick some used for high price toys or vehicles is a law firm in Montana (not exactly sure which state) sets up an address for you there and you register everything. Saving any registration costs and sales tax your considered a resident of that state. Common for prevost coaches.
