et25 front and et28 rear 19" wheels on an E55?
I have an 2003 E55. I can get a set of 8.5/19"/et25 front & 9.5/19"/et28 rear wheels AMG ( OEM ) cheap (ish). If I put 245/35/19 & 275/30/19 tyres on will they fit on my E55? I could go 235/35/19 & 265/30/19 if need be. I just need to know for sure that I'm not buying something that wont fit???
P.s. I think they are cl or cls wheels? see : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...509%26_fvi%3D1

They certainly do fit. The offsets are quite aggressive but look sick if your car is lowered. I don't rub with 275/30 Yokohama ES100. I was rubbing with the OEM equipped 285/30 Bridgestone. Fronts were A-OK.

OK, I will clarify. ANYTHING wider than 275s rub for sure. NOBODY denies that. I know many here say 275s don't rub and maybe they don't but I also know people here in SD that HAD to roll their rear fenders to get CLS rims to not rub at all even with 275s.
I am EXTREMELY picky with rubbing. If it EVER touches (even only with 5 passengers and hitting a speed bump), then it rubs. Others simply raise the car, adding rake and say they don't rub. Up to you.
Sorry for the confusion...but it has everything to do with what you are after. Looks or performance? The CLS offsets are more aggressive and will look good from the side, but ask for pics with the rear wheel compressed on a curb to see if the sidewall clears or not. Don't forget that the rule of thumb is 3 credit cards....

2004 E55
Thread revival.
I'm looking into 18" CLS AMG wheels for my 04 E55. They are staggered 8.5/9.5. What size tires should I run to ensure no possibility of rubbing? I'm also concerned with looks, I don't like the look of an overly stretched tire.
Thanks for the input!

I still say 275s will rub. Maybe brand of tire matters.
I have the same rims, plus I have 4mm shaved from the inside of each and can NOT put 275/35/18 Bridgestone DRs on it without it rubbing big time. Those tires run wide, so I'd say only a 265 and smaller would not rub.

Yes they will work,, dont listen to all the guessing and nay sayers,,
goto the AMG website, and you will see the wheels are in the E CLASS
section at least for the offset 30 versions for 275 tire..
seen at least 4 E classes with the CLS and SL Type 3 AMG wheels with 275's
as long as the offset is not more than 31mm a 275 works
if you go past 34mm offset, you have to use 265's according to AMG
work perfectly with 19" 8.5 and 9.5 wheels
the CLS AMG type 3 has the front offset of 25, and rear of 28..
they work, have driven friends car on track, and street with them
with 275's at over 100 mph
the SL wheel AMG type 3 has offsets of 30 and 31 and will also work,
and really are better and closer to the stock offset for eclass of 38
both work perfectly. although try to get the SL type 3's at 30 offset if you can, but not mandatory
best setup for the E class with these wheels is
front 8.5" rim with 245 tire and offset 30
rear 9.5 " rim with 275" tire and offset 31

i may have messed up ,, i have some cls wheels 8.5/9.5 25/28 offsets,,,, i just picked up a pair of ps2's for the rear 275/35/18 now i am not sure if they will fit or not without rubbing -- should i have gotten 275/30/18's -- will the height make any difference or go to the 265 series --- stock ride height for now but would like to drop an inch in the near future --
