Kumho Ecsta MX- anyone seriously try them?
I did a search but it didn't come up with much. Trying to do some research before I actually need a set of tires here and these look interesting. Several of the S2000 guys seem to praise them like some of the guy's praise the PS2's here.
Has anyone here tried them on their W211 E55? I'm looking for opinions on their performance for spirited driving as well as stability in the rain. They are quite a bit cheaper than michelins but not so cheap that it scares you away.
Any insight you can give or suggestions on better bang for the buck tires would be great!

rain?
Have you had to use them in the rain, yet? Seems the highways out here in the bay area like to trap water when it rains so I often hit large patches of water and tires seem to play a huge role as to how the car handles in those situations.

Haven't had them on an E55, but they are on my RX7, and were on a previous Mitsubishi Eclipse. Great tires, excellent bang for the buck, recommend them to everyone and will use them to replace the factory tires on my S2000. They are not as good in rain as an all-season on my light cars, on something heavy like an E55 they would probably be fine. Just in case you are not familiar with summer tires, I normally get less than 10K miles out of a set.

I had them on a previous car, and I was not too crazy about them... They were probably some of the "loudest" tires I've owned... after a couple thousand miles, the tires had this unbearable road noise that was pretty loud... Performance wise they were ok for the price... I would rather recommend Nitto Invos or Pirelli Pzero Nero, probably some of the quietest best performing tires I've owned... Out of the 2, I'd highly reccomend and Invo's...

I've had em and I liked them a lot. FOr the price they are much better.
I have Nitto now and I HATE them They suck in the rain.
Loudest tire by far is the Goodyear GS-D3 after 3k miles or so.
MX's are great bang for the buck tires

I replaced my PS on my S55 with Sumito(spelling) and I think they are great! Much less expensive as well.

Had a Couple sets of them...Ok Dry so so wet then on the last set Three Separated with 80 % tread wear left...The Customer service is of NO Use at Kumho
the tire dealer inspected the tire for repairs and sidewalls for flat/overheated said yes it separated then Kumho said otherwise

I have the ECSTA-SPT not the MX I don't know what the difference is, but I will buy Kumhos again. The E55 can consume a set of tires in a half day, feed the beast.
I like fresh rubber over a high mile tire.
