The advertised HP may be a gimic like on the E/CLS

We have a convertible CLK DTM here, but I can not really ask the person owning it to do do a few races to compare as they are rather high up in the ranks

maybe you can find out next time when you are out there!
as it is somthing interesting to find out if it is true or not

Thanks again

I tried uploading a SportAuto test of the CLK DTM. Here are the results:

0-100km/h: 3.9s
0-200km/h: 11.8s

In AMuS the CLK DTM did 4.0s and 12.1s.

The best SL65 times I have seen are 3.9s and 12.6s (AMuS). The CLK DTM is an absolute beast.

For some more perspective...

SLR (AMuS):
0-100km/h: 3.8
0-200km/h: 11.3

The same can be said of times at a drag strip...

Were the SL65's modified?

Not sure hence why i am umming

I generally take the info as something but not the absolute truth on results

Same can be said about the s65 vid vs m5 tour and the other vids of 65s vs M's were te results were much different, yet same car......

All I know is a few AMG engineers claimed to me that the DTM is a much better track car then the SLR, and was putting the top flag ship models to shame and management did not like that, so they had to tone it down

I have only seen it in person, but never driven or raced one to compare, hence why I would like to know more

I am sure if you inquired, you would find those SL65's to be modified. A stock SL65 has a speed limiter at 155mph. Even if the car is delimited by AMG (only done at the AMG factory)..it is still governed at 186mph. Theoretically, the SL65 does have a higher top speed than the SLR (209mph vs 205mph) but that won't happen in a "stock" SL65 as AMG will not completely delimit the SL65 due to safety concerns over the weight/tires.

Can a stock SL65 "stay with" an SLR? Sure at some points due to the massive torque advantage of the 65 engine... but the SLR is in a completely different league of performance...especially from a roll.

A certain 6speedonline/mbworld member has both cars. He data logs his cars (quite a stable) with a vbox for 60-130mph times. His SL65 has every RENNtech performance upgrade offered. His best time 60-130mph for the modified SL65 was 7.48s. In similar conditions (road, driver, temps..etc.) his completely stock SLR ran 7.24s. He has subsequently modified his SLR with a RENNtech pulley and tune. He was able to run 6.65s in the modded SLR.

Ask and you shall be granted:

Link to AMG delimiting on a CL65:

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/carg..._cl65_amg.html

6speedonline 60-130mph list:

http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...standings.html

That thread has 101 pages... the details of the SL65 and SLR runs are buried in there.
