At what point should you get an ECU tune?

Here's my plan.

First upgrade cooling with HE, CM30 pump, maybe phenolic spacers 1st.

Second upgrade intake with filters and maybe tubes. Maybe I'll do it the same time as cooling.

Third, upgrade pulley which I know needs an ECU tune to be effective.

Last, exhaust with short headers, maybe X-pipe and resonator delete.

Do I need an ECU tune after steps one and two? Do I need another ECU tune after the exhaust install again?

Just trying to plan my upgrades with so many ECU tunes. Thanks in advance.

I know many have said this but I just witnessed Bluknight run 11.8?? @ 121 mph with pulley and headers. Maybe Blueknight will chime in and tell you exactly what kind of performance mods he has. You're definitley on the right track with cooling being at top of your list. Good Luck with your mods.

No need for an ECU tune with either of the first two upgrades.

Definitely needed on the third to get the full benefit of the pulley. Also needed on the fourth to get the full benefit of the increased airflow.

Depending on the amount of time between the third and fourth upgrade you could wait and just get the ECU tune after the fourth and final upgrade.

Good luck! Have fun!

resonators quiet the exhaust sound, and cats are catalytic converters(google it)

+1

The first two upgrades on your list don't require any ECU changes. However, pulley and headers do require changes to take full advantage of the increased boost and airflow.

I'll tell you what Catalytic Converters are....They are $7500 CDN retail for the parts on an E55.

how much they cost is irrelavent when you live out side the states, i.e. in a place where no bady cares how much imissions your car does, you'll never need to buy them
