question

hey...need some input here.

do any of you W211 E55 owners know if 2004 E55's were offered w/ individual tire pressure monitor sensors ? or was that option on 05's and up?

TIA

I think it's the other way around. If I'm not mistaken, (some) 06+ has dummy TPMS that don't show actual psi.

I think this is the difference. It may not have sensors in each tire.

TPMS - Tire Pressure Monitoring System - Sensor in each tire

FTM - Flat Tire Monitor - Based off the ABS sensors.

04 last year for TPS that read out in PSI real time in all 4 tires. Many other options were discontinued it the 05 and on cars.

you mean the tire pressures indicated on my '05 aren't real time, 'cause when I fill the tires I can see the display update

Lucky you, I could be wrong, Are you in Canada? (EDIT Oh I see Atlanta.)
Do you have a butterfly center console or a roll-top.
You could have an early car, it was a software change and can be reversed via SDS. MB made it a dumbed down system (alarm @24) because of all the complaints. BTW I found that a nitrogen fill really improved the operation of the TPS, fewer alarms and resets. I am surprised at how well they do work form cold to warm 36 to 38 PSI the pressures changes within seconds of each other on the highway.

Not sure what you guys are talking about... mine (05) shows psi readings and they all appear to be real time (even though slightly off from my manual tire pressure gauge - I think about 1 psi off with the TPMS being more conservative - e.g. read lower pressure).

dont ever trust tpms, they are not very acurate, the tried and true pressure gauge(one of good quality of course) is best, even the gauges on the air compressors are not very accurate.

+1 I got my air compressor from Costco... When I first used it, I thought it was accurate... lucky me, I didn't blow my tires as it still showed 38psi but when I used manual gauge, it showed 44psi

I'm not so sure about TPMS... like I said, mines only differ 1 psi from manual gauge. And it's consistently 1psi, no matter the pressure... so I just manually add 1 psi to get the "true" pressure. LOL.
