***Chicago MB Pre-Season Dyno Day 2K9***
Right now its calling for snow next week!!!If it is nice, I will drive up Friday night (have a good friend in Plainsfield, just off I-55. I will hang there friday night then get out early on Saturday.
Pretty much it looks like it's I-55N to I-294/290N to US-20, then its on the left side of the street about 3 miles down?
You've got the general location right - CPT is right off 294 and 290, very centrally located. I really hope you can make it out, would be great to see what kind of #s that monster can make!

Jason how can you turn down Nick footing the bill for your dyno? Are you really that scared that once your big V10 barely brakes 200rwtq you will see the light and have to go back to your AMG roots???
Nick

You realize I'm on snow tires that have a speed rating of 130mph if I remember correctly. I'm more than happy with some 50mph roll-ons (up to 130 until I'm back on PS2's) if we want a comparison of power. What the dyno says is less important to me than the actual race outcome.
Maybe it was luck, but below is a list of you that I've beat at your own game (the drag strip).
Marcus (VRP E55)
jtc55 (E63)
Alex (LET E55)
Nick (W210 E55)
SAMAS (W210 E55)
c32used (LET? c32)
Now, you AMG thugs
with the W211 E55's and E63 need to realize, if I make 200rwtq as Marcus suggested, you lost to that. Think about it.
And, if you guys want to go on complaining about how your car wasn't functioning correctly blaah blaah blaah... Is it my fault that you bought an un-reliable car???
Some of us (hopefully all) are making a run to J. Alexanders afterwords for lunch and then on to the car show! You should come along for that, it's a great group of guys...
PS Nice trap speed!

Come on what would this forum be like if we don't poke fun at you since you are a M owner. BTW we never raced I can't compare my V6 to your V10
I did beat an M5 once though since he spinned for like 30-50 feet
either way bring it down represent the M no matter what torque you have it doesn't make you an easy beat by any car thats affordable. You did take me a few times down the track in that car and I thank you for it.

Yes put me down for the Dyno time.

Tell you what. I'll consider dynoing IF Marcus agrees to pay for any damage that is done to my car due to any cause.

Sometimes $HlT just happens and honestly it's not worth it to me to risk it for something that I 100% don't care about (ie what power my car makes on a dyno). If a problem happens on the track, at least I will be doing something that I actually have fun doing.
Also, what specific experience does CPT have with dynoing M6's?
My friend Chris who bought my E55 (which, from here forward shall be known as the AnteroKiller) will be coming up as well. He's still on summer tires, so if snow is in the forecast he will be riding with me.
Hopefully we can have a good cruise after the dyno session. Is anyone not going to J Alexanders?

I cannot comment on CPT's M6 experience. They have worked on BMWs, and Al's brother Paul (who also works at the shop) has a 335 (yes, I realize a 335 isn't an M6...). What I can tell you is that if Al doesn't feel comfortable dynoing your car, you won't have to tell him not to. He won't, in fact, he won't even consider it. I will have to ask if he's willing/able to strap down an M6, because lord knows BMW put enough stupid crap on that car that it probably needs a certain solar alignment so the ECU will let the thing dyno.
If he can dyno it, unless the M6 is really a bigger piece of junk than I thought, I can't imagine anything breaking on the dyno with the car being totally stock...

Nick
Is that a realistic possibility? Has it happened before? What exactly breaks?

Nick
thoughts?
