Three Piece wheels and rivets
SO I am refinishing my HRE's again and I wanted to paint my rivets. Does anybody know if you can paint rivets and not damage them when putting the rivets back to together
thanks

Out Of Control!
Who's doing the refinishing? HRE or you or some other company? If it's HRE i'm almost sure they can have them repainted.
Also they would require proper torquing.

4 wheeled car.
Of course it can be done. Take Vincent Wong's 996 997 GT3 conversion @ iForged. They painted his rivets kermit green to match the car. It's feasible. Just have to have a knowledgeable person put it back on without damaging it.

I know it sucks but you might have to tape up the whole wheel except the rivets... then paint them.

You can also get 12 point sockets that are coated in plastic so it will not mess the paint up. Make sure you use a tq wrench so you don't have to torque it more than you need to 25lbs

Best bet would be to call a reputed aftermarket wheel shop they might direct you in the right direction. Or check on mac tools website they may have some.

not rivets
Just randomly cruising through the forum and ran across this. We have used HRE wheels on some of our race cars for field repairability? reasons. The bolts (not rivets) are held stationary with your bare finger, while you torque the nut on the back side of the rim. 25 lb ft seems about right. If you're competent, you can rebuild the wheels with your eyes closed. The folks at HRE and other high end brands need you to believe this is rocket science in order to command the ridiculous prices they give you. Last time we checked, re-clear coating a set of wheels was appx. $2300. All 3 piece rims are fully machined. I'm not sure you could put one together incorrectly if you wanted to. The original concept is from the race track. We can repair / replace a cheap inner or outer rim half in the pits, with hand tools only, and not have to throw away the whole wheel.
