CLS55 AMG 030
removing rear star???
removing all the chrome on my car and paint it black i have ever thing off besides the rear star? how does it come off i know its no adhesived on i removed the trunk lid liner. looking at the back side of the emblem there are three little metal rods with little black plastic thing on them? anyone know any thing about that? thnx

Just pull on it... the rubber grommets are tight around the 3 prongs on the star, you just need to get something thin under it and slowly pull it out.

I would buy a new one to refinish, as they aren't more than $20.

Plus one!! The star is contoured and not flat. Nothing tackier than a star that doesn't sit flush.

Yeah it's just little black plastic plugs. They come off and on. Here is a few pics of what it looks like.




You should fill the holes and have your trunk repainted. I think it looks a lot cleaner with nothing.
