High mile E55 as a DD?
Greetings fellas!
I am considering purchasing a high mile 04+ E55 AMG. What problems am I likely to encounter or start encountering with an 04 car with 70K miles? I drive approximately 15-18k miles per year.
I have had a few high performance cars and this would be my first high performance sedan of this caliber.
I was thinking of maybe getting a third party extended warranty incase the vehicle may need major repairs in the future. I usually dont buy these when I buy cars but I dont know much about the E55.
Thoughts or suggestions?

the drivetrain is, for the most part, bullet proof on a stock e55. at some point you'll have to replace typical wear items but if you can get a good aftermarket warranty, it should cover those anyways. go for it!

not only will some companies not accept an amg model, some may not take a car with such high mileage... i know though, that a chrysler service contract will do amg, and will take mileage that high...

Chrysler is what I purchased for my 2005 - very satisfied with the price (@1/3 the MB estimate) and quite comprehensive in the coverage of major items - I was in your situation (factory warranty was expired),and I didn't want to leave anything major to chance

Not according to the Chrysler rep; although I had 200 mi left on my warranty (for a car that hasn't arrived to my doorstep yet), no one ever said that was a qualifier

I went to the site and sent a submit for a quote. Lets see if they call me back and I will see if they will cover and 04+ car with that many miles.

I've had my 117K E55 for a month now, everything is excellent so far, just do the normal maintenance. I went to the dealership and they gave me the full list of services and recalls that was done to it.
I changed the oil & filter, replacing the other fluids soon just to have a fresh start because I have no info on when they were done.

i recently purchased an 03 E55 with 58k on the clock. After doing a ton of research i found that the price of an extended warranty doubles on the car if it has over 60k on it. I purchased the EasyCare - Total Care package thru a mercedes dealership. the contract states it covers everything the MB factory warranty covers.
