ESP malfunction... visit workshop message 2004 E55
I was just cruising around and my power seemed to diminish like no supercharger
.... Then ESP malfunction
. Visit workshop message.
The esp button would not function. Made it home, turned it off, then restarted and check engine light is on, and the esp switch now works. Taking her in tomorrow. Any ideas on the problem? Thank you...

Not sure what an ESP module costs, but it could be something as simple as a brake stop lamp switch ($20 part). They are prone to fail in virtually every MB model due to shoddy construction. I am assuming that when ESP goes out in our cars, the supercharger shuts off as a safety precaution? Still doesn't explain why your ESP started working again though. You have me stumped on this one.

i get the esp malfunction message often when at the track but it's never thrown a check engine light or shut down power. after the run i just cycle the ignition off and back on and everything is back to normal.

cars shouldn't even have esp
