Change of plans...Anyone up for Firebird Internation in Arizona tonight?
Hey guys...this week has been a cluster ****, my car was not ready yesterday when I arrived at Evosport (still not done right) and by the time they got things somewhat buttoned up I would not have been able to make it to Houston in the time allowed.
So.......I am loading up the rig and heading to Firebird Internation for their Friday Night test & Tune tonight...I might stay for the Saturday Night Drift & Drags too. Conditions will be less than desirable, but I still think I have what it takes to break into the 10's. DA's in that area last night were around +2000 and I went 11.04 at Famoso with a +1800, so 10's are not completly out of the question.
If anyone is going to be there tonight please stop by and say hi.

Dude...you are in Az tonight? Hell, I could stop by and say hey. We are having a custom dyno tune Saturday and then methinks we are heading to dinner and the dragstrip.

You should go to Speedworld. Much better track and prep. Plus on Saturday there having a big race so the track will be REAL good.

I was just on Firebird's website and it says cars that run 11.99 or quicker need a full cage...Do they inforce this rule? I hope not

Roll cage mandatory in cars running 10.99 (*6.99) or quicker, or any car exceeding 135 mph (217.2 km/h). Full bodied cars, with unaltered firewall, floor and body (from firewall rearward, wheeltubs permitted), running between 10.00 (*6.40) and 10.99 (*6.99) roll bar permitted in place of roll cage. Cars running between 7.50 (*4.50) and 9.99 (*6.39) must have chassis inspected every three-years by the ASN and have a serialised sticker affixed to cage before participation. Must conform to specs for body style used, as listed in General Regulations 4.11, 10.6.

juice is correct, it's 10.99 for full cage. BUT, firebird does NOT allow any leeway on rules. you run 1/100th too quick and there's no second chance...you'll get the boot for the night (unless you can go back and pass tech for that class).

I thought the NHRA rule for cages was 11.49, is this track different?
Jim- If the track you go to posts your 60' times on the board make sure you look at that when making a pass. If you don't have a good 60' LET OUT! You dont want to get booted for a cruddy pass. Do NOT tell tech you go faster than whatever the roll cage et requirement is. They wont know unless you tell them. Just a few tricks of the trade. On your last pass of the day just go ***** to the wall, this always pisses off the tech guys cuz they cant do **** about it but make you leave which you are gonna do anyway

neither firebird or speedworld post 60ft times, as karl said, just reaction times. i've not seen his set up but from what's been posted he should be able to tech for 11.0. however, for that to happen tonight will take a big bottle!

I'll be running the team race during the day at Speedworld. Track will be nice for the night races and DA should get better with the small cold front coming in. Hooley and Mikey have my cell, let me know if you guys are coming. I'll have my laptop but the wireless at the track is not very good. So I'll probably won't have a chance to check the boards unless I get taken out early.
