Dragstrip newbie

I took my E55 to Bandimere Speedway in Denver on Friday. It was my first time ever on a dragstrip. Going into the event, I had no idea what my car would do.

My quickest run of the day was 13.306 @ 108.45 with a 60' of 2.227. My best trap speed was 108.99. I was not unhappy with the performance given that the track is at an elevation of about 5800ft. I also had a great time unleashing the full power of the 55 in a safe and controlled environment.

It was interesting to watch others run and observe the high altitude performance of various cars. A couple of C5 Z06's and a Gen 2 Viper GTS ran times in the mid-13's. A couple of C6 Z06's and three GT-R's were in the low 12's.

Good times!
If you go to dragtimes.com, you can check what the DA does to your times, by normalizing the altitude.

I also had my first outing on the E55 today!

1st run was fine 12.87@108 (not bad i thought) followed by a disappointing 13.5 13.1 before i decided to call it a day. Terrible!

Serious cooling issues these cars have.

Off to get cooling mod before making it faster for sure!

Lopes,

Curious if you could elaborate on the cooling issue? I am in the market for an E55 now, and live in Vegas (115-120 Farenheit in summer months) so this has struck my interest. Sorry to go off topic slightly, but this could also benefit others looking to head to the drag strip...

Thanks!
Chuck

Thanks for pointing me to the tool. The calculated DA for my run is 6862. This is the correction it spits out:
Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
12.159 @ 118.446 MPH

Extensively Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
12.405 @ 115.942 MPH

Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines
12.81 @ 112.503 MPH

I'm not sure which figure is most appropriate for my car. My E55 is bone stock, so I don't think it would be "Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines". The middle figure is pretty close to the magazine times at sea level.

I would say I agree 12.40's-12.70's @112-116, obviously the first correction is for N/A as is the second, the supercharger and turbo charged cars usually take .50 to the DA which gives you a fairly accurate measure.

You can use 6800*.50=3400 DA , what ever correction method you use just make certain you do the exact same correction method for all your runs .

Once you gather enough data you can come very close to knowing what your car will do at specific DA readings.

The IC pump is crap and your AIT will be to high as a result, the ECU will then reduce/cut power to avoid damage.

Yeah it has, book it at MB they will put a new pump on, hopefully that will work.
