What Oil to use in AZ?
Im going to do my own Oil soon and was wondering what oil you would recommend for the the HOT AZ climate? Btw my car has 84k miles on it so would it be beneficial to use high mileage? thanks in advance

I think the factory oil is too thin for long term use and hot climate. Some people may not agree. But, I would try 10w-40 sythetic or 20w-50.

i'm sticking with the 0-40wt mobile one. i've got over 100k miles here in az and my dyno numbers over the weekend prove my car is only getting stronger.

I agree with Mikey his car is real strong. It seem like when he parks his car for the night it goes to the gym to lift weights with a fresh shot of Winstrol.
I would stay away from Royal Purple, I used it and kinda liked it, but i always found myself down a Qt. Maybe some Motul 5W40 I've been using that and Elf motor oil and I like them both. I wont say motor oil is motor oil out of fear of getting engine sludge dumped on me.
I would normally disagree with Mobil 1, Thinking 0w40 is to thin, but Mikey's E55 freak, has changed my mind.

SO in a warm climate the 15w-50 is great. On a 120 degree day thats what I would use. I run that in my E36 BMW track car since all it sees is 2 days a month of constant redline shifting and some pretty extreme ambient temperatures. I even run it on days when its very cold out since once up to temperature at the track the motor stays a steady 230 degrees on the oil temp gauge (with the oil cooler).
For example on very warm days, the lifters on a S52 bmw get very loud one oil temps reach close to 300 degrees. With the 15w-50 the car runs just fine at around 285 degrees on the oil temp gauge but the 0w-40 allows the lifters to start ticking anywhere over 270. The thicker oil just stays stable to a higher temperature.
