05 C55 to 03 E55 wise choice?

I have a 05 C55 with just under 46k miles and I'm contemplating on possibly trading it in for an 03 E55 with 63k mi...the E55 has no options but looks good on the inside and out considering the year. I know 05 and 06's are the ones to be had but if I can strike up a great deal I would consider it. Warranty is a must so that will have to be factored into the deal as well. So keep my c55 or give in to the v8 kompressor that keeps whining at me? Any advice would be grateful.

I'm biased, but I absolutely love my E55. The power is going to be a LOT more aggressive than you've been used to in your C55, but it's SO much fun...

Do you know if the service records on the E55 that you're contemplating is available? Are you able to get an extended warranty on it?

yea the service records and all the regular maintenance performed are available...there is an extended warranty available and if i can get a good deal for my car plus an extended warranty slapped on the E55 i might pull the trigger. just iffy about the year and mileage.

I say go for it...especially with the service records and warranty. You won't be disappointed! IMHO

I say yes, do the trade... However, wait for a better car to come around. You should be able to have your pick of cars out there the way things are going lately, so hold out for something with a little less miles and more options. Just my $.02.

def. a wise choice. you have no idea the potential these 55 motors have with the SC.

I owned all C55, W210 E55 and W211 E55 at the same time one time

I would say performance wise, no question... W211 E55 is much better... handling wise, I like C55 much better... it felt a lot tighter and nimbler... probably due to size. Keep in mind that this opinion is based on an '05 E55 w/ updated steering rack... so expect an '03 to have even worse handling than C55.

Sound wise, for some reason I like C55... it is louder.

Reliability wise, I'm a bit biased given I lemon'd an '03 E55 and I owned W210 E55 till 73K miles w/o any problems (except $120 MAF). But my current '05 hasn't given me any problems whatsoever (except my subjective complaint about I/C pump & S/C clutch that in the end got replaced under warranty )... Since you'll get one w/ warranty, you could take this FWIW....

I honestly miss my C55... to me, it's just a different animal... been thinking of getting another one couple times already given the price.

As far as worth it or not, it depends on what you prefer.... handling or power. The best solution is to try it yourself.

Good luck!

thanks for the feedback..im def more into power than handling and ive always been partial to forced induction...i like to buy locally and these dont come by to often but i know ill regret it if a newer one with less mileage rolls through. im gonna get some detailed info on the car and see how it goes from there..thanks again

Kinda hard desicion, most people trade in for a newer vehicle.
The e55 is a BEAST

I far preferred me C32 to the C55 so I never got one and my E55 destroys the C32 in all regards. Bottom line, I would say that it is a great move but I would want to see a car with less miles on it and there is nothing wrong with an '03.

I upgraded from an 05 C55 to an 05 E55. You will miss the C55 handling but you get more power and luxury with the E55. For me the upgrade was a must because I had a growing family so it made perfect sense.

Good luck with your decision.
