Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there such a thing as a loaded Dynojet? I thought I read that some DJ's can be fitted as a 'loaded' DJ. Do we know what kind this one is?

I was always under the impression the you really can't tune the maximum potential on an inertial dyno. But what the heck do I know.

Doh, are you gonna be doing road tuning after you dyno tune? Not a fan of non load bearing dyno's for tuning. Thats why I picked a dyno dynamics last time

Guess we'll see some big numbers on the ego-jet.

Was much load tuning done on your car at Function Tuned? I know for the rest of us with simpler tunes, we were just WOT a couple times then off the dyno. I was in an out during your tune, so I don't recall whether yours was tuned at specific RPMs.

Lol yea.

Function tuned had a load bearing dyno so all the cars were done using load tuning. My car was tuned just like the others at WOT. It is generally accepted that a load bearing dyno is better able to simulate road conditions. On a dynojet the roller spins freely with no load on it, this can change certain parameters in the car. Dunno if that makes any sense lol

I agree with you. The WOT on the dyno dynamics is definitely better than the DynoJet. But another major difference is the ability to place load on the car while staying at a constant RPM to tune a particular cell in the map. I've done that on a dyno dynamics for my other car with a standalone fuel map, and it gave us the ability to create a much better tune that just spinning the drums of a dynojet. I wasn't sure if that was something you needed.

The load-bearing Dynojets are the "LC" models.

The inertia dynos are useless for tuning turbo cars, due to the difference in loading on the vehicle. On the SC cars, the difference is minor.

The main difference is the ability to make a pull from a much lower RPM on a loaded dyno, as the car won't downshift as readily. On a DJ, pulls start around 3K RPM - already above the TQ peak of a stock E55.

We can always do a "road check" with our portable LM-1

Is the dynojet model we will be using a LC model? I have alot of crap on my car and want to make sure the tuning is proper (not too lean, not too much timing that it is not safe). I see a divide on the need for a load bearing dyno for proper tuning. I leave it to you experts to figure it out. I need a good reliable tune ASAP!

Would we be able to do the tuning on a load bearing dyno or is it definitely set for the dynojet? I'm worried about afr's as I will have a bigger MAF housing and a bigger throttle body. Without load, the roller spins freely and much easier than under load and can give a inaccurate reading

Agreed, I am in need of a perfect tuning job...not of an ego dyno. I have 446 whp on a Dyno dynamics and ran 11.1@127 so i don't care about the power reading. I just want a tune on the right dyno. Lets get a load bearing one set up instead, please.

Keep Me Posted
Benz-O-Rama. Keep me in the loop. Found about about the change because I called Excessive Motorsports and they told me about the change. When will it be confirmed that this event is not in Sterling, VA at Function Tune?

Go ahead and subscribe to this thread, just to make sure you keep getting updated.

According to post #69, L.E.T. is awaiting confirmation from Function and will update in this thread. Should be good to go, but I'll make sure to send you a PM at the end of the week.
