2005 E55 AMG
NewBee look at me
If you look close enough there still may be a little yellow stain in my pants from last week when i purchased my 2004 E55 AMG. I want to ask a few new guy questions. What is the difference betweeen the W210 and W211? I have the AMG compressor...is that the W211? Second question is I only have 28,000 miles, what do I need to look out for in the next 10,000 miles besides the cops? 3. What version of the nav DVDs are compatable? And last where can I get the AMG badge for the drivers seat. Posting pics and setting up account now, hopefully more fun to come. Thaks

E63 AMG & CLK350
Umm...ok, I help you buddee.
Google is your friend for that question.
You have an E55, hence Kompressor means you have a supercharged motor. E63's are NA.
You can also google and search for the W211 maintenance schedule and find all kinds of handy dandy info there.
Ps. You may want to buy new pants. Just sayin.
The Mercedes-Benz W210 is a mid-size luxury car–executive car which was produced by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz from 1995 through 2002 . The Mercedes-Benz W211 series entered production in 2002.

1. There is a whole boat load of differences between W210 and W211, the biggest being different body style and the addition of the supercharger. You could probably get a more thorough answer if you wikipedia both cars to get the nitty gritty details.
2. One of the common problems with our cars are I/C pump failures. If yours has is still OEM, I would invest in an upgraded one. Do a search on I/C pump under the W211 sub forum and you will see what I'm talking about.
3. Not sure about the NAV DVD's, since I chucked COMAND so long ago. IMHO, the MB nav sucks, so I went with a Kenwood HU with Garmin nav (touch screen and simple stupid operation). If you need to get the MB Nav DVD's, you could put a shout out on this forum or start searching Ebay.
4. I have never noticed...the passenger seat doesn't have an AMG logo? I've got to jump in my E55 to check myself.
Again, good luck and enjoy the Beast.

Hi and welcome to the forum.... ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
The W210 is the old generation E-Class, which as mentioned above, was in production from 1995 to 2002. The chasis (and basically the entire car) is completely different. It's just a different model. The W211 is the current chasis, which was offered for model years 2003 to 2009. From 2003 to 2006, the AMG version of the W211 was called the E55 AMG and featured a 5.4L V8 Kompressor engine (supercharged engine) with about 500 hp and 520 tq output. The model years 2007 to 2009 versions featured a "slightly" updated front and rear and was called E63 AMG. The chasis housed a high revving 6.2L V8 Naturally Aspirated engine producing 500 hp and 465 tq.

If you search online, there are a ton more pictures.
By the way, the new W212 chasis was just announced not too long ago, and will be produced for model years 2010 to 2016. We're still awaiting the release of the AMG version of the W212 with many speculations on exact engine specs![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
In terms of maintenance, the cars are fairly reliable. The IC pump is definitely one of the weak links, but many have found the CM30 johnson marine pump to be a good replacement to the factory bosch pump. Aside from regular wear and tear items, such as oil, brakes, etc..... tires may need to be changed every 5,000 miles.............. if you drive it conservatively

2006 E55 2004 Audi S4 (gone and missed)
Aside from the intercooler pump, you may also wan't to look into changing your supercharger belt. There is a great DIY on this in the stickies. It's really easy to do and doesn't cost alot. I believe MB recommends cahnging the belt every 30k.
