A local shop recently bought the latest and greatest Mustang Dyno, and I figured this would be a great opportunity to dyno my car. Anyways, I've always heard about Dyno Dynamics being one of the best dynos to tune cars on because it's a load dyno. How about the Mustang Dyno? Isn't it also a load dyno? What are the major differences between the two? And is there anything I should know before dynoing my car on the Mustang Dyno?

They are quite similar, Both Mustang and Dyno-Dynamics use Eddy Current Magnetic load cells. Software from both will be different.
Mustang Dynos have been known to be over loaded by the user. In turn simulating an up hill climb. Or underloaded sumulating a down hill run. This is not true in all cases. Its widely heard that people are complaining of lower than expected numbers even when compared to a Dyno-Dynamics. In most cases its due to user error or the dyno is not properly dialed in.

Hey Mo, ask him if it has the 1/4 mile feature with tree.
That's is an absolute blast!!
Meaningless as far as actual times, but so much fun.
My car ran a 10.8 with a 60' of 1.4. IF ONLY IT WERE REAL!!!![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
I'll let the experts chime in on differences etc. Over my head.

Mo,
I have a Mustang MD250 dyno. It's a great dyno and makes live tuning a breeze because you can load the wheels at any rpm. DD is a great machine too. From a end users perspective I would say not much difference. They are usually about 8% lower then Dynojet numbers usually.
A cool part of the mustang is the 1/4 drag feature. It has a built in xmas tree that can record 60 foot. 330, 1/8 etc and reaction time. Very fun and accurate within a tenth of a second. The numbers I got were all in line with what they should be or rated at from the factory. You can also do 60-130 pulls too.
The new powerdyne software is great and can extract lots of different info on the screen. If they have the obd2 access port you can measure iats, coolant temp, boost, all sorts of neat things. Hope this helps.
