It will get hit hard, the SL65 BS is still based on the SL, used SLR's (totally unique design) are going for $200k, what was the sticker $500k?
I don't feel 1 bit sorry for any person able to afford one of these historical BEASTS, also I highly doubt these will depreciate to $50k in 3 yrs.
(I'm not comparing the CLK63 or SLK55 Black Series due to NON --Turbo/Supercharged also 50% $ less original msrp)
This SL65 BS is closer in lineage to the SLR, CLK DTM, & Maybach family(They're not selling for anything remotely close to $50k) Also the SLBS has the latest facelift plus (1) off styling innate to the SLBS line, the CL65 215 models are the only 65's selling for $50k range due to complete redesigned 216 CL model release, the SL65 R230 is closing tho @ 69-75k..
I just don't feel it's a fair comparo to the out going CL65/SL65/S65 which were mass produced vs SL Black Series...Anyhow just my point of view, everyone may think different

I think if you wait a year or so you'll be able to buy one of these for $150-175K. There is no longer a market for these cars and I think MB will have trouble selling them. I say this based upon the CLK63 BS which still has not been completely sold out and, the used car prices have already dropped $60K. I can wait for a low mileage BS to replace my E55. JMHO

The reason why Mercedes automobiles depreciate faster is because their MSRP is pulled out of their asses relative to their actual production cost.
With a starting price where the SL65 BS compared to a Ferrar F430, I'm curious to see the comparison of the cost to MSRP ratio between the two.

i pick f430 the sound and the lil kids running after you saying OMG it a 430 that sick, yea im sure you get that in the 65 but nothing's like a ferrari. ferrari is in its own world for me i wish i could buy one.

For that money, I'd get a Ford GT and mod the crap out of it, especially since a well known tuner (Heffner Performance) of GT's is just south of me (Sarasota/Bradenton, Fl).

Most people could buy an F-car, especially if it has a couple years on it (think 348, 355, 456, TR, etc). I'm sure you could swing it if you really wanted. There are lot of nice ones that are pretty reasonably priced.
Problem is, you literally have to be filthy rich to pay for the maintenance. $15k for a regular service, $12k for a clutch, etc. They will suck you dry in no time. I really think one of the reasons F-cars usually have such low mileage is that, when you factor in the maintenance, they cost something like $2.50 a mile to drive.

Just cause a car is faster doesn't warrant reasoning to buy it right? Both the ZR1 and the SL65 BS are completely new machines and first year of ownership we have no idea how the cars will hold up. The GT2 has been a very precise machine for years now.......I would pick the ZR1 over the more exclusive SL65 BS. That new BS is the bomb but I think I would enjoy the Chevy better...

Porsche will hold their valus more the merc. the 997 turbo is droppping in price but the GT2 is still strong. It is the crown jewel....more so than the CGT. The looks are sick and it's the most refined widow maker ever built. if the GT2 drops to a hundy in the near term I am sold. the GT2 is surgical.
