lol at being stripped of options and selling for $304K. IMO, at that price it should have all options "standard"

The guy who ordered it probably didn't get his stimulus package so he backed out. LOL

It will get hit hard, the SL65 BS is still based on the SL, used SLR's (totally unique design) are going for $200k, what was the sticker $500k?

(I'm not comparing the CLK63 or SLK55 Black Series due to NON --Turbo/Supercharged also 50% $ less original msrp)

This SL65 BS is closer in lineage to the SLR, CLK DTM, & Maybach family(They're not selling for anything remotely close to $50k) Also the SLBS has the latest facelift plus (1) off styling innate to the SLBS line, the CL65 215 models are the only 65's selling for $50k range due to complete redesigned 216 CL model release, the SL65 R230 is closing tho @ 69-75k..

I just don't feel it's a fair comparo to the out going CL65/SL65/S65 which were mass produced vs SL Black Series...Anyhow just my point of view, everyone may think different

I think if you wait a year or so you'll be able to buy one of these for $150-175K. There is no longer a market for these cars and I think MB will have trouble selling them. I say this based upon the CLK63 BS which still has not been completely sold out and, the used car prices have already dropped $60K. I can wait for a low mileage BS to replace my E55. JMHO

The reason why Mercedes automobiles depreciate faster is because their MSRP is pulled out of their asses relative to their actual production cost.

With a starting price where the SL65 BS compared to a Ferrar F430, I'm curious to see the comparison of the cost to MSRP ratio between the two.

But you'd get a slower GT2 for 100K more then a ZR1?

Because you know, that makes a lot of sense...

No kidding. The price for that car is simply unjustified! As is most AMG MSRP.

For that money, I'd get a Ford GT and mod the crap out of it, especially since a well known tuner (Heffner Performance) of GT's is just south of me (Sarasota/Bradenton, Fl).

Considering the SLBS is more exclusive, I'll take the Benz. In Newport Beach, those 430s are as common as Honda Civics in Little Saigon-- fuggetaboutit!

Most people could buy an F-car, especially if it has a couple years on it (think 348, 355, 456, TR, etc). I'm sure you could swing it if you really wanted. There are lot of nice ones that are pretty reasonably priced.

Problem is, you literally have to be filthy rich to pay for the maintenance. $15k for a regular service, $12k for a clutch, etc. They will suck you dry in no time. I really think one of the reasons F-cars usually have such low mileage is that, when you factor in the maintenance, they cost something like $2.50 a mile to drive.

Actually, the 360's and on are relatively cheaper for maintenance. But, look at it this way, say you spend $20K in service over two years of ownership of an F-car. You'll lose that $20K in depreciation in 1 month on the Black Series!

If I had the bank roll to afford it I would get a GT2 over the ZR1...many evom kits out there to get the GT2 to be as powerful as the ZR1...in its stock form its nearly or over 100 hp less and quarter and lap times aren't that far off....Lets not forget depreciation either...the ZR1 will depreciate way faster then a GT2..now don't get me wrong I love that new ZR1 but I loved the GT2 far longer..If I owned both pretty sure I would drive the GT2 more.

Just cause a car is faster doesn't warrant reasoning to buy it right? Both the ZR1 and the SL65 BS are completely new machines and first year of ownership we have no idea how the cars will hold up. The GT2 has been a very precise machine for years now.......I would pick the ZR1 over the more exclusive SL65 BS. That new BS is the bomb but I think I would enjoy the Chevy better...

man...you are dead on with that one. I think this car will be a great second hand value. I thing in 3 years you can get one for less than 110K. by then gas will up tick over three dollars and no one will want one.

Porsche will hold their valus more the merc. the 997 turbo is droppping in price but the GT2 is still strong. It is the crown jewel....more so than the CGT. The looks are sick and it's the most refined widow maker ever built. if the GT2 drops to a hundy in the near term I am sold. the GT2 is surgical.

you have to take in account the F430 was crazy expensive when it was new. everybody wanted one and some people gave a little booty to get one. now that the F430 is old news it looks like a bargin. look at the 599 GTB. I met a guy that paid over 550K for his car and waited 2 years to get it. the guy is one of the first people to get he 599 but dam 200K over sticker is like an *** pounding fron lex the impaler. I feel that it is always best to wait until the hype is gone. then you get to the real valus of the car. the F430 are getting cheaper by the day and when the F450 hits the streets the F430 will be the next used 360.
