I absolutely love the SL65 BS, but If I had the money for just (1) supercar I'd be in a Murcielago 2007-2008 LP640 but in BLACK w/red calipers as others have said were talking about a 304k-330k Auto...NO brainer

I agree the SLBS will take a huge deprication hit during this economy & is over priced to begin with, but no way in hell will it be $50k in 3 yrs...

Just cause a car is faster doesn't warrant reasoning to buy it right? Both the ZR1 and the SL65 BS are completely new machines and first year of ownership we have no idea how the cars will hold up. The GT2 has been a very precise machine for years now.......I would pick the ZR1 over the more exclusive SL65 BS. That new BS is the bomb but I think I would enjoy the Chevy better...
All the same, a simple ECU for the 65BS will put you over a ZR1/GT2. With that same mentality a mod or two on the ZR1 and you'll be over both, and the cycle continues.

I agree, just because a car is faster doesn't warrant reason to buy it however it's what you used to justify the GT2 purchase here.

And thus far, I have yet to see the 65BS race anything-- I wouldn't doubt it beating the GT2 despite what the mags say. But that's just me.

"Stripped out on options"??? I was told the only option is metalic paint and MSRP's only vary by $700 between white and a metallic. I told you guys these were not selling, only about 25% of them are sold people are backing out left and right. I passed on mine (for the time being) and some McDonalds big wig was supposed to buy it, now my dealer told me that guy is having second thoughts. There are now a couple dozen of them sitting on dealer showrooms, they are not selling. If the other buyer does indeed backout I will wait a couple weeks and walk back into the dealership with checkbook in hand and throw them an offer that is $50-$60k under MSRP. There is another shipment od them arriving at dealerships next week, so I'm sure more of them are going to be sitting on showroom floors in the very near future.

I love the way the SL65 BS looks and maybe I will own one someday after the depreciate like a lead brick to $150K so bring it on!!!!!!!!

Honestly, it is not what that car will cost someone to buy, it is what it is going to cost in depreciation and exclusive or not, that will be a massive numbered compared to an L, F, or P car with the same starting price.

My dealership has been sitting on a brand new black SLR roadster for months, they told me they would take $390k for it, MSRP is right about $500k.

SL65BS costs more than twice as much as regular SL65 and I just don't see where that $150,000+ is going. All you get is a wider bodykit, slightly different interior, and 50hp more with no increase torque If you look at the price difference between CLK63 and CLK63BS, it is a lot smaller and there are similar differences between cars.

Yes, I agree but the tunning potential for the SL65 BS is much greater than that of the CLK BS, trust me on this one, I easily have $75k in mods on my CLK and until I pull the motor to install the 7.0L kit the car has reached it HP potential. 750 rwhp is a very realistic number for the SL BS, and I could get to that number for a lot less than $75k IMO. Besides that the SL BS looks even more sinister than the CLK BS.

That wasn't his point I don't think.

He's saying the performance difference between the standard Sl65 for $180k and the sl65BS at $300k is not very big, whereas the difference between the $80k clk63 and the $140k clk63BS was larger.

I don't think he ever intended to compare the sl65bs vs the clk63bs.

Also, I don't think the modding potential of the sl65BS is any greater than that of a standard Sl65.

If that was his point he was wrong- same engine, tranny for each...Both carry too much of a premium for what they provide.

This car has way more then just wide body and an extra 50 hp.
The whole suspension has been reworked, bigger better cooling everything & lots of fabed up parts.

Same was said about the clk blk when it was coming out....why pay that much for a CLK! well every one that drove it bought the damn thing

I know some one that has driven it and he is madly in love...but alas can only be had in a different life time

Well not enough test drives then....the CLKs sit on lots despite only being a few hundred to begin with....they've lost $60k in value to date, almost 1/2 msrp....

I've just seen the SL65 Black in person. A Black one at that... guys, if you've been asking whether or not it's worth price, go see it in person. For the love of god, they had it in next to a 550K drop-top SLR and another regular SL65 and really, it made both of them look kinda obsolete actually...

I was referring to what has been done to it (not just wide body and 50 hp), not the price...i agree way to expensive, but its a BEAST!

All who have modded a 55k and know how it feels, just can not get there head around how a 65 must feel, as in its stock form its faster or nearly = to the best running stage 5 55k.....now you have it dressed to kill along with the monstrous engine with the added benefits of been able to use it more from low speeds and cornering!!!

JakPro, I have to say photos do not do this car justice. You have to see this beauty in person to really appreciate it. Amazing work of art.

+1.

I thought it was a shame, the dealer should never have put the SL Black Series next to the SLR and the regular SL65. Very hard to justify the 550K they wanted for the SLR, with a Black Series SL next to it. I don't care what anyone says about Lambos and Porsches, the Black is epic. Looks like the techs at AMG "Hulk'd" the car. Ridiculous...

One day...

I have to admit, the seats on it were just breathtaking

The stitching and look.....WOW!

I know the V12's are on the way out due to the Greens, but what a swan song!!!

Truly will be the pinnacle of raw brutal torque for AMG

Strahan is a huge car guy. He lived right around the corner from me for years and his stable included a Lambo truck, a Vanquish, a Bentley and of course, a Supra TT.
