pricing guesstimate with options
ok so I was really bored....maybe buying an E55, wanted thoughts on pricing...
base price, most feel it will fall between 75k and 80k, so for this example lets go with 77,500, you can add or subtract 2,500 depending on what your feelings the base price will be....
E1 = 1,150
Drive Dyanamic Seats = 395 (for this I subtracted 755 for multicontours that come standard from the 1,150 for drive dynamic seats price on the E500)
Parktronic = 1,035
Rear side blinds = 320
Active ventilated seats = 550 (for this I subtracted 655 for heated seats that comes standard from the 1,200 for active ventilated seats price on the E500)
Pan. roof = 650 (deducted 700 for harmon kardon on the E2 package that left the sunroof costing 850, subtract this from the E500 price of the pan. roof of 1,500)
solar panel = 925
Tire Press. S = 630
Power shade = 440
Cd changr = 400
Electronic trunk closer = 470
Keyless go = 1,015
Phone w/voice = 1,995
Nav = 2,125
Distronic = 2,950
Delivery = 720
Gass guzzler = 1,700
ok granted a few of the options are estimated, but if you wanted every option given this base price, the car would cost a staggering $94,970 thus, if your a 75k base thinker, that would be $92,500 fully loaded or if your an 80k base thinker then $97,500 would be your price....
anyways, personally I would want every option but distronic, thus with my price is going to fall somewhere between $89,500 and $94,500....hoping its closer to the 90k mark
tell me what you guys think and your opinions on upcoming pricing,
cheers,

I think you're very close in your estimates.
I think the base will be around $75,000.
My opinion is that MB has arranged the platform so that many options which weren't available on the 210E55 can now be added to pad the margin on the car.
There were only a few options on the E55 as I recall (nav, phone, CD, paint...) so the bulk of the profit margin had to be in the base price.
Margins tend to be higher on options than on vehicle base preices, so MB is simply trying to "have it both ways": make the base appear competitively priced--similar to the old 210; and maintain the potential to draw some very solid margins out of the options.
I'm planning on getting only the ventilated seats, shade, and CD changer at this point. I like the wood wheel, but I'm not sure whether I think it will suit this particular vehicle's 'soul'.

I've been looking at the same thing. You should look at the MB web sites Germany and UK. I find the other web sites to be a lot more informational thant he US web site. They give prices of 75,500 euros and 51,063 UK for the E55. Each has a conversion rate of 1.077 and 1.647 respectively. This would bring the US amount to 81,313 and 84,100. For a point of reference, the E500 in Germany costs 48,700 euros or 52,450 US dollars. The E500 in UK is 35063 or 57,750 US dollars.
Based on the above, I would have to say that the AMG will come in at the low 80's. My estimate would be $82k for the E55.

Keep in mind that European prices usually include VAT and that the standard vs. optional equipment profile is usually different than for the US market.
The correlation between European prices and US prices is a relatively loose one.
(See old posts wherein this was debated extensively last fall).

MBWorld Fanatic!
You can never, ever, ever get a true US price by converting the prices listed for other countries.
The W211 E55 in Australia is $219,000 in Aussie dollars and that equals $128k in US dollars. That is a huge gap between a projected US price of $75k and $128k.
My speculation, - The car will come in near or at or just below the base price of the 2003 S430 ($73,320) without HID, Nav or rear sunshade.
Gas Guzzler tax not included in Base Price.
