How do you like your E63?

Looking to upgrade from my old 01 E55 to a used 07 E63. the one im looking at is fully optioned minus pano roof and distronic, but it has been well maintained. In general, how realiable are these cars? do they still have issues like the W211 e55's?

hows everyday driveability? any quirks? decent mileage? things i need to look out for?

any info you got, i would appreciate it!

No one posted because if they were to post they'd say one thing...STFF.

I have free time right now... so I will help.

They all love their E63s, they are all very happy with the reliability (except for minor things here and there) and they love the ride quality. They say that if you found a good one for a good price you should go for it because its a buyer's market. One member is telling me that he loves how comfortable yet fast it is at high speeds. Another is telling me that you wont regret it.

Did I mention that I suffer from schizophrenia?

i did search, all i come up with is stuff for 10' model.

but thank you for the response! the one i am looking at is local, with 24K miles. the guy is asking 61K, which is high, but is negotiable. im looking to spend 50K. Theres another in Ill at a dealer for $49K and has 30K miles. BOth are fully loaded, black on black...so who knows.

thanks again!

i have not driven a e65, but i have the 211 55' and it's a pleasure so far... far more reliable than my previous vehicle, and looks much better... as far as pricing, you should be able to find it cheaper than the one @ 61k...

Let me tell ya...

I own a 2007 arctic white with Pano and black interior fully loaded.... I LOVE IT!! I couldn't be happier (except for lower car payments) I had test drove everything from Audi's to BMW's and I couldn't be happier... I paid mid 50's then added the CPO and probably paid a little more than I should of but I HAD to have the white with black interior!! Plus having it CPO with a 100k warranty not expiring until 2012, you can't beat it!! I drove the E55 and liked it but the E63 is just in a different class.... plus if I really wanna go fast I just jump in my supercharged viper!

It is very smooth at high speeds. It shifts sometimes at odd times when I catch it at a weird rpm and I am flooring it. I still haven't figured out if I can get my NAV to tell me total distance to destination and just to the next turn. Good power though its not the fastest thing on the street. I paid 51 for a black on black CPO car without distronic and pano, but with premium 2 and a free bluetooth remote thingy. Right now Mercedes has 1.9 on used cars for 36 months. Don't expect for your salesman to know that though. Mine didn't and now he says I can't change it.

I really like mine. It's a super fast car with 4 doors and a lot of room on the inside. I really like the illuminated door sills as well. The brakes are super powerful as well. It's basically like driving my Corvette but a lot more refined and it holds a lot more stuff.

i got a 08 e63 and since i have i have had the following issues ,

keyless drivers door ,pano roof switch, passenger seatbelt chime keeps ringing , motor mounts and tranny mounts . and a wierd knock upon cold weather starts until oil temps hit 70 .

car has 24k miles and i also am on my 3rd set of rear wheels . just threw michilen p2's all around and they hook alot better with traction off.

Mileage if you beat on it expect 8mpg highway at 55-60 ive seen 22mpg but who in their right minds drive this car @ 55????

Not faster than a stock 55 on a roll but race from a dead stop and its a different story . for a 4 door car with no blower its very respectful and after u beat your first ferrari you will think the same

2008 E63, White/Black, P030
I just got mine on 4/4/09. Its got everything (P2, Pano roof, carbon fiber interior, except disctronic, got the performance package, White on black. Its got 14,000 miles, cost $62,0000 shipping included from TX to CA. The weird thing is I have not even driven an E class or E63 before and I bought it over the net!!! But I knew I liked it, because I have been reading this forum for a while and I got the "feel" of the E63. Besides, you can't go wrong with a Merc. I was waiting to see how the 2010 E class looks like, but after I saw the 2010 my mind was made up. Let me say this, its very rare to find a used white on black E63 with pano roof. I know, because I was searching for one for like almost a full year. But to me white is the best looking color, because it brings out all the design lines and the true beauty of this car. I would have gotten the CLS63, but I have 3 kids and the CLS is a 4 seater. My brothers G35 used to look really good and putting and spending a lot of $ on it, supercharger, suspension, wheels, etc.., but now compare to the E63, the G35 is a pieace crap and he want a E63 now!!

AS for the likes and don't likes of the E63: I don't know if its me or that I am used to other cars, but the gas pedal seems to be a bit too heavy and seems none responsive at the begining. It makes me step on too much or too less on the gas pedal. Does anyone has this issue at the begining?
The navigation is not the best out there, I do not use it.
Gas milage!! But you know why you bought this car, so shut up!!!
With the stiffer suspension on the performance package, its still seems soft to me.
The cars do feel heavy while hard cornering, compare to my 2000 Maxima.
Bluetooth craddle to connect phone to vehicle cost $300 up.
Fog lights do not light up in auto mode.
You have to baby this car. Ha ha.
Enough of the negative stuff and now for the good stuff:
Looks realy good, the name AMG turns head.
Upon ignition, there is a nice high exhaust growl at start up. Love that!!
Nicest interior, I love the inside and it has a very nice distinctive scent of the leather.
Sound system is top notch. I listened to Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest, The Kraken soundtrack, you can really feel the very low octave.
Best seats, limitless adjustments and looks great.
Very fast heated front seats, wife loves it. Its a present to her.
Pano roof is very unique, best next thing to no roof.
Top notch inerior craftsmanship.
Very roomy inside front and backseats and the trunk.
Almost forgot, the ride height raise and lowering on the fly button, may not make much difference to most, but it makes a big difference on my drivway, it is very steep. The exhuast rubs the floor if I did not raise it. It also makes the car look lower.
Braking is really good and aceleration of course!!
Its got its own tire pump in the spare area!!
Great U turn!! Many of you may not noticed, but after driving ten miserable years on my 2000 Maxima that takes 41 ft to make U turns, this cars 37 ft U is like a mini carte. Thats why, when buying a new car make sure it U's small!!

Good Luck buying the E63, go for it. There are alot on Ebay, especially black and silver, thats where I got mine!!

I've had mine for almost 4 months with no real issue. 1 time the keyless go didn't work??? The car is great!! I get positive feedback on the Pano roof and my roof is quiet as well as the the rest of the car. Power is awesome and feels strong throughout the rev band. Gas milage is not why you buy a car like this but I got 22mpg on a round trip to Pittsburgh and back cruising 70-80 on PA TP. The car is very solid and has great road manors. The steering is my only complaint, but I'm getting used to it's feel. It's not my daily driver so I really look forward to driving it when it's time for fun!!!! Parktronic is nice as well as the electric trunk closer. I smile just washing it!!!!

I haven't checked back in a bit, sorry..
Thank you all for the feedback! this is exactly what i was looking for! It seems its a great car in general. the lil quirks im not worried about, as all cars have those minor issues.

I did test drive one and it was great! pulled hard and the 7 speed is awesome! paddle shift and response is good too! i loved it. the guy is pretty firm on his price at 55K, but i am not willing to buy it at that. there is another one in Ill for 48 so im trying to go after that one too...

who knows what will pan out. i just sold my home so i have the extra money to buy this car, but i am looking to build a new home on lakefront property...so i have to keep my priorities in check. the woman is tellin me the house is more impt... LOL

Thank you all, appreciate the comments greatly!

I totally regret buying an E63. I wish I'd gotten an M5 or M6.

Was it the handling? If I was 15 years younger I would regret on my E63 and get a real manual M5 but its different now.

Haha...I was being facetious, but since you mention it, I do miss the handling in my M3. I thought for sure I'd end up in a Porsche or another BMW after the M3, but the get up and go along with the overall refinement of the E63 really got me.

My initial test drive left me quite impressed. Plus, I had a hankering for something different.

I came from an M5 & like the E63 better. Way more low end torque; the M5 feels somewhat lifeless until you wake it up @ 5000 rpm or so. Fact is, you don't drive at these revs normally unless you are having a little fun!

Yup, from what I've heard you have to drive like you are abusing your M to feel the power. Was your M5 the current or last generation? the latter was manuals only.
