Thinking about picking up a W211 E55
Hi guys,
I'm not new tot he forum. I previously had a C43 that I swapped the NA 5.4L engine from a W210 E55 into it. Loved that car so much... I do miss it. But now I have a 2000 S4 that I've gone stage III in (K04 turbos, fueling etc) but I've been looking to sell it and get into a W211 E55. I miss the benz feel. The gobs of torque and what not. What are some issues or things I should be looking into? What are some common issues? I've put tons of money into both my older cars, and hope that a E55 is more reliable and isn't as much a money pit....TIA

I've been searching the forum and really only see mostly about mods. I've seen a few topics about general ownership but thought I'd ask for more insight. How are the transmission? I know my C43 was fairly weak and I had to replace it at 80k. Are maint cost in line with regular models or is there a premium on repairs?

from what i hear the tranny on the e55 is a tank! I know most of us have repeatedly hammered the car from a dig and it just keeps asking for more! the weak link on the c43 was the tranny - my buddy had one and had to replace as well around 75K. Love the 202 body - yours must have been a beast with the 210 motor!
Whatever you buy get a warranty the same day as the car is so complex and you don't want to have to take to the shop on your dollar!
