Do the ECU tunes void warranty
I would love to get an ECU tune for my 63 - but does it void your warranty? I paid extra for the 5 year / 100,000 extension? What happens if you granade the motor and the ECU has been "tuned."

Yes. It will void your new-car warranty, if MB knows about it.
Some extended warranties are not affiliated with MB, so they may or may not care even though they know that the ECU has been modified.

The legal theory is, MB can deny a warranty claim only if they can show the modifications caused the failure. The reality is, there have been multiple reports of MB identifying modified cars and denying all warranty claims on those cars.
I'll second the points already made by Hooleyboy (ECU changes aren't particularly easy to spot) and Timeless (it's good to have a mod-friendly dealer).
Lots of folks with cars under warranty have modifications and still receive warranty service but there is some risk of getting a claim denied because of the mods. Ultimately it comes down to individual risk tolerance.
