Anyone change out the rear differential gears in their E55 for better accelleration
That greatly improves off the line acceleration and multiplies torque as the gear gets steeper? Off course the steeper you go, the lower your MPH will be at top speed. So you really want a happy medium?
I am sure there is somebody that has swapped a SL55 AMG rear diff into a E55??
I have fixed every other single thing that could be wrong with this car (just keep going through process of elimination) so if I run her at Sacto in the fall and she tanks, it's the gears.
Only thing keeping it still in is URNEXT's SL55 that ran near 11 flat with all that extra SL55 weight. If she runs that fast in an SL, how bout an E that is lighter.

Cost....don't even ask. There are no specs for shimming SL55 gears into E Diff so you just swap out the entire diff. Ouch. Bout 4-5K and if you need half shafts.....another 800 per. OH and you need the tranny reprogrammed. Used to be hard and $$$, bit easier now I think with a few tuners doing it.
