My E63 Exhaust sound notes
hey all. Some people have asked recently what my exhaust sounds like with what I have done.
Here is a link to a vid sound clip that should give an idea.
THis was done while at a stand still. Inside cabin windows closed, Then with camear and mic outside of car. Never went over 3 k RPM's but gives and idea of rev sounds it would make at a stop light or something...
I am gonna try to do another one soon with the car under load at night sometime soon, but thought I would share.
My Exhaust:
Primary cats in place, no secondaries, no resonator.
3" SS pipes from primary cats to a 3" X-pipe, then 3" pipes dual all the way to stock AMG mufflers(not gutted)
Heres the clip....

Sounds good. From what I can tell, leaving the stock system in place and removing the secondary cats you get louder and more raspy. Do the resonators as well and it's even more raspy at lower revs.
Interesting to see you rev your car in neutral...I saw your tach go past 3000 rpms. I cannot do that in my BS - even if I floor it the needle just stays right at 3k...also yours revs much more freely than mine in idle - I cannot blip it like that at all.

tomorrow I am gonna try to run a dedicated MIC into my trunk area. Or just outside trunk and try to get some up close recordings of the exhaust under load while drving around. Not sure if I will have video or not or the same runs. Might just be an audio recording, unless I can find a long mic for camera. Should have something else to post at one point later tomorrow. But yeah would be nice to heard what some other 63's sound like

Do HFC have a certain cell count? What would be a good number for keeping sound down but still maintaining performance with longtubes?
