Are our primary cats worth any $$$

I just had my Kleeman's installed so the primary's came off. Mine had to be replaced last month so they are basically brand new, are they worth any money?

CONGRATS

Congrats on the new Kleemsnn's! Just got mine back last week. Step up from K1 to K2 was noticable! I think losing the primary cats and those itty bitty factory collecters makes a big difference, along with the upgraded K2 ECU mapping. Next step TB!

Doing the K2 package helps the engine breath much better but they don't flash an upgraded ECU file when you go to the K2. All the K2 programming does is shut down your secondary(rear) O2's so you don't get a CEL.

Enjoy your new found power!

I'm pretty sure its illegal for them to sell used cats. Maybe laws are different in chicago?

Try calling a metal recycling company and then a salvage yard and see who gives you the best price.

Cats here on the East Coast fetch $75-$150 each.

Good luck!

They are worth big money to an E55 owner who needs to replace them after 80,000 miles. I'd hang on to them and pop an ad in classifieds periodically, if you have the space to store them.

Yes, I will just hold onto them and post a classified for the odd buyer who may need them. I am going to polish them this weekend and will look better than new

When I spoke with Cory at Kleemann at the time of the install, he told me that they had revised their previous ECU mapping and that he would "re-flach" my original K1 settings with the latest settings at the time he turned off the primary cat CEL sensor. I didn't know if the revision to the originall mapping was specific to the K2/Header install or just continued tweaking to the original K1 set up. IN any event, my car REALLY pulls like a monster now! I did swap plugs at the same time and went with 1 step cooler iridiums. My car also has an EVO cooling kit, a PTE thermostat, an EVO resonator delete and a VRP CR airbox with K&Ns. The mods seem to really compliment each other and I have revived my original excitement over the car from 3 years ago when I originally bought it. What Fun!!

They're worth some money to scrap yards because of the small amounts of precious metals (platinum primarily) inside of them.

I would hang on to them, if you have space to keep them. Someone, sooner or later, will pay you a decent amount of cash for them.

Always liked that black on black look. I'm still looking to swap out my plugs, etc. I'll let you know when I do so.
FYI - when I talked to Cory at Kleemann, he said that the larger TB is definitely worth the $$$...and definitely more bang for your buck than the cams....
