E63 - Dash Lights Dim
I was out of town for a few days, my car started right up (battery did not seem low at all) but I noticed that night all of a sudden the gauges all seemed pretty dim. I have now driven the car for two days (as if the alternator needed to charge battery) and the problem has not changed at all. I definitely do NOT ever remember the lights being so faint. Is there a dimmer switch/scroll anywhere (no one was in my car to mess w the settings).... but this seems odd - I can hardly see them at night!

no you dont have to go to the menu. the odomter button has a dimmer switch built into it, so when you turn it, it brightens the dash lights.
