I powdercoated mine with metallic black and they came out great. However, you have to remember not to use the gun, because it will scratch the corners. Otherwise, they've been in great condition so far.

If you can find a shop that does it, you can get them "Black chromed" too, which will probably be your most durable coating.

Or just use a soft socket. Best ones that hold up are anodized. I've also seen some pretty trick titanium lugs for Fcars.
