'09 comand (?) system

'09 comand (?) system
A salesman at Fletcher Jones told me that the in-dash player on '09's will play DVD movies. A salesman at MBZ Laguna Niguel told me it won't.
Which is correct?
Also, I have heard it said on this board that the '09 comand system is vastly superior to '08. How exactly is this true?

It will play DVDs but not while in motion. (although there's a Euro software work around from what I've read.)
The 09 is better, imho. First off, it's hdd based. That's a big plus. And voice control actually works (most of the time.) The W212 should be even better.

I have a 2009 W211, the COMAND is excellent! It definately will play movies, but as 220S said only while parked. Navigation and voice control are optional, but part of the Premium 1 Package which every car you find will have. It is hard drive navigation with excellent voice control, also an iPod/MP3 Media Interface which shows the full iPod menus on the COMAND screen. Let me know if you want any screen shots I'll take them for you.

The 2009 COMMAND is definitely a big improvement over the 07 to 08 models. Much better voice recognition software, better menus, Hard Drive Navigation (which is much faster than DVD), and you can also store music and media files on the hard drive.
