So, there's a guy in my neighborhood who has a C5 Z06. I always see him leaving the neighborhood, heading to the highway, or on the highway heading home. He really loves accelerating on the ramps to the highway, but slows down if I take off behind him in my E55. Normally, I would say that he may just like to take it slow, but I've seen him really get on the accelerator and push it in his car...just not when I'm in my E55. Out of curiosity, how would my E55 fair against his Z06 (and vice-versa). Has anyone out there owned both of them? Now, I realize if this was a C6 Z06 or ZR-1, it would be a different story, but it's not....

Anyway, I'd like to get some thoughts.... Thanks!

HA! I am in the same predicament... My buddy has a black c5 z06 with a tune, intake and exhaust, and our mutual friend is talkin some crap sayin that hes gonna walk all over me. I am stock for now. But do u think with his mods, would i be able to take him?

 

BTW, we are going to get it on video. So ill be sure to post the results

run them from a dig, and you guys should get them. Zo6's are super quick on the top end and the faster you go, the better chance they have of edging you out. I have run boat loads of them when I had my cobra's and have plenty of seat time against them.

 

I will agree with this, but only due to the driver of the Z06.

I've owned both and drag raced both. I still own my C5 Z.

2 stock cars, with average drivers in both cars, the E55 will win a drag race.

 

Before Carlsbad Raceway closed I ran three different C5Z06's in one afternoon with my bone stock 04' E55.
I lost to one with DR, headers, intake and tune but it was very close and I was a fender on him at the 1/8 mi. The other two stockers were slaughtered.

I miss carlsbad. I still have a 1st place trophy sitting on my desk from that place back in 2001. Fun place to hang out and run with friends. Very grass roots.

LOL funny you posted this thread, I went at it with a C5 Z06 just a few weeks ago. I do not know what he had done to the car, but it was loud so I would say he atleast had an exhaust.

I went with him from a dig, and I was ahead the entire time, its so much easier to launch with an automatic. It was close though, he was at my back door almost the entire time, but when it came time for him to shift gears he would fall back. My guess is he was not the best driver, but still I was happy a four door sedan with 3 people in it was faster than a Corvette.

 

I guess it would all depend on how many gold chains the Z06 driver was wearing That gold is heavy stuff.

Yeah, the gold chains, the 6 velvet paintings of Frank Sinatra in the trunk, and all the luggage for the trip back to New Jersey. It all really weighs the car down...



I'm tellin ya man, some stereotypes exist for a reason! 9/10 times the corvette-driver stereotype is spot on.

 

WEll, the Z06 is a drivers car! It's going to up to his skills but just remember guys! It's all about Power/Weight Ratio and tire compounds...

If he has nice tires and if he can shift! He will win....

I've been Road Racing LSX cars for 4 years now...Last year I raced a C5Z...Trust me!!!

But I know of lots of E55's that can take Z06's....

Loved my Vettes. Liked the 08 better than my 996TT, but now that I live in snow, the TT is a better choice.

....6 velvet Franks in the trunk Priceless. I heard Chevy was bringing out some new option packages for 2010 Corvettes. The Italian Package, only available in black, swaps out the alcantara seat inserts and dashboard for burgandy velour seat inserts and dash, burgandy **** carpet, clear plastic slip covers for seats and carpet, T-tops replace targa top, gold center BBS wheeels, "special" gold badging, a gold license plate frame, a jewelry cleaner in the center consol and a hair gel dispenser in the glove box. Something tells me this package is going to be a hot item in Jersey.
