I drove this car yesterday.

07 Flint Gray P2 car with 27k miles. Very clean inside, some wear outside - 3 curbed wheels (mild rash), normal wear on the nose and some scuffs from parking barriers on the bottom of the front fascia. Looks about right for a DD in this area.

Dealer was asking $58800, I offered $53000. They claimed they paid more than than for the car, which I doubt. I think they paid closer to $49-50k. Couldn't get them to move below $57,800. My guess is that they haven't owned it long enough (~ < 1 month), so they're not ready to cut into their profit yet.

Anyone know what the car is worth?

So... add shipping to the other side of the continent (my guess, at least $2K). Is it CPO'd? If so, add like $2-3K (my rule of thumb).... Otherwise, add $1K for post-sale service, reconditioning, etc. Total cost = $50K and they want at least 15% profit... for now.

But yeah, your $53K offer seems reasonable... they should still make around $3K. But I'd guess it's not enough for them... LOL

autobaun MBZ had a e63 wagon 21k mile w/ p2. black on black. that cant get rid of it. I almost trade my e55 for it. they offer me $51000.00 . that was 3 months ago.

That's not the same car. I ran a Carfax on this car, it's always been on the East Coast.

The dealer obviously knows that it's a niche vehicle. They called my cell 3 times today. I called back and they want to offer it at $56k... even though the claimed they only had $1500 profit in it at $57.8k

I'm tempted if I can get it down to $55k, but I still feel like I'm overpaying for it. I really love E AMG Wagons and this seems like a cheap way (relative to new) to get in one for a couple years as my DD.

Doesn't seem like I could be hurt too bad, not like buying my E55 new, DD'ing it and then selling it

So at $55k is it a reasonable deal? It's been recently serviced and has 2 new rear tires (my E55 was on it's 3rd set of rears at 27k miles ).

Sounds like you could get the car for 53k. Nobody is buying cars, you have the upper hand. The sales tactic of the past are failed as supply will continue to drown demand for the next several months perhaps years.

All true, but the wagons are incredibly rare. As I recall, under 70 E63 wagons were imported.

53K sounds about right.

I bought my 05 E55 in 07 (so the same 2 years old) for 56K out the door (not including tax). A little more and the economy is hurting.

I've looked into 63 wagons & have a question for anyone who's owned one or is considering one...would the purchase be to haul more people or more cargo?

Also I'd feel like I was giving something up in performance to buy a wagon...and yet I'm still considering one. The idea of snapping off a 4.1sec 0-60 time in a wagon is awfully appealing

Maybe... you'll never know. But if it's a dealer, chances are they bought it at around Manheim's price. So I'm still quite sure they bought it around $45.5K... same year, same color, similar mileage.

Anyway, what you're experiencing now does make me confused also. I've seen cars that have been on the lot for 2-3 months.... asking price was pretty high (like ~$10K above Manheim).... I gave offers like $2-3K above Manheim, I still got rejected

The Wagons actually are better balanced and FASTER. It is such a great combo, but it is a wagon.....

Wagon =More mass up high due to longer roofline. In my estimation that makes worse balance.
How are they faster?

It has a slightly longer stance, weight distribution is slightly better. It is slightly taller but squats to equal heights at speed.

The test cars ran significantly better times considering the weight differences

12.60's stock for the Sedan while the wagon came in at 12.40's so what do you say?

I can promise you stock for stock the wagon will win in a straight line, have no clue why

Wife and I were car shopping in Milwaukee (Concours) two weeks ago and a VW sales guy asks me about my wagon. He mentions they have a E63 wagon that somebody ordered and then for some unknown reason couldn't close the deal after it arrived. Apparently they tried to get rid of it for months - I immediately ask where it is on the lot. We can't find it...later found out the manager had it sent to the auto auction house in southern WI that morning.

(Never found out how much they wanted for the car before they shipped it out)

Not to fret too much - we did score a good deal on a very lightly used '08 E90 M3 (1K miles)- we pick it up later today!

We have a lot of dealers around here that sit on cars forever, instead of making a couple thousand in profit. Even cars where I have the auction listing, so I know exactly what they paid.

A local dealer, Euro Motorcars, had a 2007 CLK63 cab (blue 10k miles) on their lot for $61k. I found the auction listing - they paid $45k. I offered them $47k. They countered at $51k. I countered at $47.5k. No deal They sat on that car for months. They finally marked it down to the low 50s, but I don't know the final sale price.

But I'm glad it worked out that way. I bought the wife a BMW 650i convertible - much nicer than the CLK. Even with the soft top, I like it more than the R230 SL we had a few years ago.

Thanks for the input on the wagon. The deal may materialize... if they want to sell the car.

Wussup Wayne? It's been a long time. Ever finish that vette? Anyways, as you already know the AMG wagons are very rare so dealers try to hold out for that person thats been looking for one for a long time and want to capitalize on the profit. I think you will find them calling you quite a bit with a lower asking price at the end of the month just to add a sale for the month

Yeah, haven't been online much or visiting this place since I sold my E55.

The C5 turbo project is finally closing in on completion after 2 yrs. I also picked up another project car - a '69 pro touring Camaro.






Considering jumping back into another E AMG with this wagon, but I'm also looking at a couple Cayenne GTS.

Yeah... for AMG wagons (or even AMG as the whole), that would be a little more understandable.... but for GL's???

BTW, I kept changing my minds... I remember I asked for your help to look at an R-class in MD Now, I've set my mind (I think ) to GL320... yeah... diesel baby! LOL

I dunno about the 63 platform but the 55k wagon is "faster" on the dig because of the weight distribution. They have the same wheelbase. Same goes for an SL. They are heavier but also have more of the weight over the rears for better traction.

Thanks, Juice. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a dealer who wanted to sell one at market price. Everyone thinks the used market is hot right now, even though auction prices don't reflect the retail prices these guys are asking.

I ended up with a Cayenne GTS. Leftover 2008, 97 miles, all the options I wanted, including a 6spd manual transmission. $84515 sticker, I paid $63000.



It's more sports wagon than SUV. Considerably slower than the E63 wagons I was looking at buying, but more fun to drive and more utility - it can actually tow my car trailer, so no need for a 6th vehicle.



If you can find someone with access to local auction data, you can properly price them. From what a friend in the business told me, ASC has more realistic used prices vs. dealers like Euro, but they still have too much profit in them.

There are a handful of dealers in the area with leftover 08 GTS. Rockville Porsche has 2 silver priced @ $69500, optioned about the same as my GTS, except they're Tiptronics. I still think that they're over priced - they're a used 2008 as soon as you take delivery. Used 2008s are going for ~$60k at auction.

I've been bidding on cars I found online for the last 3-4 weeks, trying to be patient and sticking to what I know are the right prices for these cars. Now that I bought one at a smoking price, I'm getting contacted by dealers who refused my original offers. Now they want to deal

Do you mind sharing some of your luck? I found a car I like... gave an offer, which was only about $3K under asking, about a month ago. Dealer didn't budge for whatever reason.... it's still on the lot right now

I don't understand it, either. Some of the cars I bid on were relisted several times on Ebay with no bids... yet the dealers still stuck to their original prices. Either they paid too much and can't sell them at market price or they're greedy and holding out for a better dealer.

No matter, I got the car I wanted at the price I wanted.
