i have the opportunity to purchase a w211 e55 for a relatively good price, however there is no warranty... are these cars worth owning outside of warranty or will this car wind up owning me instead of vice versa?

for the record its a 2006 with 67k for 29k out the door...

If you do a search,you would find atleat 10,000 post ( with in the past month ) regarding buying E55 outside the factory warranty.

WOW $29K out of door ? so its about $27K, its very good price.
You can spend other $3k for extended warranty and still good price

That car's been well serviced and all at the same dealer http://www.mbpines.com/ Perfect service records. Then it went up for auction. Probably a dealer trade-in. No stories.

Get an indie's PPI and if it checks out, then buy an ELW and you're all set.

That car is out side of the factory warranty ( 4/50K ) so will not qualify for ELW...

Considering you can have my one-owner 05 with 17,300 miles, built in radar detector, full factory externded warranty through 8/11 or 75k miles for $35k, it doesn't sound like an impressive deal.

thank you for the info, i appreciate it. it looks well maintained. i am on the fence about it.

its about 8k more than the one i posted, however if youre willing to take a trade i will gladly buy yours. the reason why i am looking at dealers and not searching the classifieds here is because i have a mk5 r32 with 4k miles on it that i would like to trade in since it just sits in the garage.

Ahh. I see. Not in a position to trade. Just looking to put more cash into my new house.

But the difference isn't really $8k. It comes with a $3,600 warrantly, and a $1k SRX remote radar/laser detector and diffuser system. So the difference is arguably $3-4 k for a car that has 25% of the mileage. I think you should go back and beat the dealer down a bit.

lol, yeah there arent too many places to go to after m5, so toss up is b7 rs4 or w211 e55...

boy, i thought i was the only one who felt that way.... being honest with you, the only down faults with the w211 e55 for people like us, is no 6-speed and no LSD... but other than that i'm happy.

thats a good idea, also i was thinking that stop & shop center... (woodhaven/union) theres a starbucks and a pizzeria etc. i was going to get a vw/audi meet going over there too...
