Anyone proposing to modify their new E55?

I know what you are pointing at, but it's not normal here in Europe or any where else in the world, that MB owners of the more exotic types are young persons which offen bring their car on a race track.
It has never been up to question before, nobody has ever asked
in a buying situation " how fast is the car on a 1/4 mile ", they test drive the cars and here after they order.
The KLEEMANN cars are mainly build for everyday use, not as a hard and uncomfortable race car, tests has any way shown that
they do a great job on the track.
As far as I know, the time slip of the CLK 55 K above from Atlanta,
was raced with the OE 17" AMG wheels, which isn't the right choice for such a car.
I will do some acceleration tests when the weather here allouds it, at the moment it's - 10 C here, not exactly perfect for drag racing.
To set one thing straight, the E 55 used at the WR at 338 km/h, was NOT special prepaired for it, it had a different RA to be able
to reach that speed, other wise it's like any other E 55 K.
The car isn't registrated because of the enormous luxury tax we have here in Denmark, where an W 210 E 55 cost 300.000,00
US $, this is why Jason Watt drive it on test number plates.

I see a one second difference between the two. The RT has significantly more TQ than the KLEEMANN car- a nice side benefit of 6 liters of displacement (also what determines acceleration, not HP). The RT car was also a wide body conversion with massive rear tire width. The KLEEMANN car was on 265's (DOT street radials at that). The CLK43K just roasts the rear tires, making it damn difficult to pull of great accel times.

Since this thread was started to talk about people who wanted to modify their 03+ E55's, may KLEEMANN can answer my earlier question about their upgrade for this car, cost, what is changed etc..

Well, as it stands I plan on doing a Renntech conversion that is said to produce 575 hp. About $19K according to their price list. But they have mentioned the possibility of replacing the kompressor with turbos. No word on power, availability, or price just yet.
Kleemann may merit consideration as well. It would be interesting to see what they have to offer, but it doesn't appear on their website.

I agree, MKB does make a nice 6.0 conversion for the V8 (which many choose resell under their own label), but the major variable in the times displayed are the tires. I currently have 275/30/19s on the rear of my CLK43K, and will spin the tires through 50. This is obviously a disadvantage against any car of equal power and wider, not to mention stickier, tires.
From Renntech's site:
"The CLK-GT version is a 408 horsepower 6.0 liter V-8 with 460 ft lbs of torque"
Using the standard 21% drivetrain loss, my CLK had 460hp and 440lbs of torque after the Kleemann supercharger. To me the Kleemann just represented a better, easier, less invasive, and more affordable option.
And so there is no confusion in my affiliation, we carry both upgrades, yet I would recommend the Kleemann.
DougE,
I would give Kleemann a couple months to release their upgrade for the 55k. $19,000 is a lot of money to spend, and I'm sure you want to be getting the most out of it. The Kleemann 640HP upgrade should be released around April/May.

It would be a pleasant surprise to get a bit more for the $$ in the aftermarket game. $19K seems like chump change compared to the story rendered by the Renntech price list relating to my SLK320-to-38K adventure ...I thought I was rich there for a while!

"Brembo brakes are initially grabby, the engine-conversion alone costs $50,000, and the CLK60s .... Price as tested: $133,222 (base price*: $116,222)!!!! " the Kleemann is far cheaper, better ratio Hp/$ and Prerfor./$.

Thanks Ben, compare appels to appels.
The KLEEMANN cars tested, is always in normal street gear, much
better time would be possible if special tires, RA ratio, weight of car optimized ect.ect.
As told earlier, AMG just made a major change to their S/C system, which did put KLEEMANN 3 month behind schedule.
I will keep low profile what the kit will contain and price untill
we know more precise.
All I can say is, IT'S KICKING A$$

a 12.45 at 111 is about 415rwhp on a 4K# car.

Well, I saw a copy of my timeslip with the CLK 55 so, I guess I can chime in.
The time was recorded on a 68* night with STOCK tires and wheels. The car had 3000 miles on it and about 150 miles on the install.
I went to the track, ran it 3 times and that was the best result.
I have done 1 upgrade on an 03 sl55. I used the Renntech boost kit and computer upgrade.
It worked quite well and gained over 30+hp and torque across the board.
