A paragraph full of contradiction..confused..you have owned 20 Porsches and never thought they were good looking? So..you enjoy buying ugly cars?

why even bother having an opinion, in as much as vw has decided that panamera will be dropped from the porsche line up. and if you buy into porsche propoganda and buy one of these, you'll find your value decimated when the s version comes out less than 12 months later.

I saw one at Goodwood festival of speed. One thing that is not immediately obvious from the pictures is just how big this car is ... its huge ... very long. At least it certainly gives the appearance of being longer than the E although perspectives can be deceiving... Don't like it one bit sporty upfront SUV at the back ... Porsche should stick to the 911 and forget all else ... not other model line up has lived past 2-3 model cycles. The 944 was perhaps the closest they got to something decent... Carrera GT excluded of course - and that was an accident as it happended anyway when they chaged LeMans GT racing rules... hey had the racing design done ready so they decided to build the road car instead of waste the design... at least thats the story I heard.
BTW you heard the last "new" McLaren F1 was sold for $4.5m in Nov last year, when McLaren closed their Park Lane "dealership". The car they sold was the black one that had been on display there for many years. Another one was up for sale recently (200miles on the clock) for an undisclosed sum... think the chap was after about $3m.
Credit crunch indeed....
I happened to see one on the road here recently (silver) and I nearly fell off my chair and out my window as I drove past it - did not immediately recognise it. They only made 64 road cars and not sure how many of them are still running.... I guess thats still the best car of all time for me.

You have to see this car in person in a silver or light color.
Pics do not even remotely illustrate the gorgeous lines, stance, powerful elegance and enormous size (on par with S Class) of this car.
IMO it is absolutely the most beautiful sedan available at any price - makes all other 2010 sedans look old and cumbersome.
Congrats to Porsche for taking a design risk and delivering performance that rivals any supercar.
Over a 1000 of these were sold in China in first month....

Drooool!!!!
Combine 500bhp (much more with a few goodies), all wheel drive and launch control and you get a very formidable weapon.
Too bad they are north of $150K when well equipped.

I was the on the "its fugly" train when I saw the press pics. Then, I started seeing them in person here in the OC and my brother in law bought one and these Panameras are growing on me... fast. I also want to give Porsche some props for trying something new. I mean, good Lord, every freaking car is starting to look the same. Look at Mercedes. They get confused for Korean cars at a distance these days. There is something to be said for taking some design risk. Also... have you guys who are haters actually sat in one? The interior is off the charts. Amazing really. So, not only can you haul four adults to 60mph in under four seconds you can carry their luggage too. Isn't that something that we mod the hell out of our cars to try to get? Oh, the Porsche can turn as well.

I was a hater, have mellowed a bit on the Pan but still think it is butt ugly. The only one that vagually interests me is the Turbo, but for the money I would take an Aston Rapide, or even better the TT CLS when that comes out and go modding...

Yeah, I've seen some nasty looking Turbo's rolling around Dallas...No one will play though...I was gonna test drive my buddies, but he traded it back after a month and put in his Boxster Spyder and Cayenne Turbo order for his wife instead We are obviously nowhere near the same tax bracket His GT2 is for sale if anyone is looking...

I've seen quite a lot of them around here. They don't look as bad when they're on the road.
Kind of parallel with what happened with the 928. It was built to be the flagship and eclipse the 911. It was faster, and handled better (50/50.) 911 enthusiasts thought it was stupid and ugly. Then they stopped production and today the car's still considered a great performer and worth good money.
The Panamera is the 928's successor. It's a Porsche history repeat.
And they'll stop production and it'll be worth some good $$ in years from now.
