And another idea from....

Essentially a liquid - liquid intercooler that uses the compressed freon/r134 etc to refrigerate the coolant going through the intercooler core.

Two ideas here.

1.) Try it on an 55k car.

2.) No need for the liquid liquid, why not blow compressed intake charge over an evaporator core?

I'm assuming there would be some condensation especially in warmer climates...but why hasn't this been attempted?

it's been discussed, but imho, running it off the stock a/c system isn't going to work. i'm not even concerned with the idea that running the a/c compressor steals power from the motor...it's the fact that our ecu's shut off the compressor during wot which means the liquid circulating through the i/c isn't being chilled when we need it most. maybe some of the tuners could check into that and make a work around or we could hardwire a manual override switch for the compressor.

sure would be nice if we just had an efficient i/c to begin with or a normally priced upgrade instead of the silly slr i/c prices.

You'd need a second small compressor, probably trunk mounted. Buy a $99 window a/c from Home Depot and scavenge it for the compressor and switches. Then it's a matter of piping the system.

FWIW I think this would work well on these cars.

I found a guy locally who has the setup on his Gen2 lightning. He said it creates a TON of condensation, but drops IATs over 70* on average in the 90-100* south Texas days. I'm going to check out his setup next week.

I'm pretty sure this is what Ford uses on their Lightnings.
