I have used ITG dry panel filter which worked great and was easy to clean in my previous car. In the E55 I use K&Ns which work fine.
I would stay away from the Green as they tend to fall apart...

I have not found K&N any cheaper then Autozone...37.99 each You can call and have it shipped to the store near you and pick up yourself and pay no shipping or they might have in stock.

I'd say no way since our cars make 500ish whp and 500ish tq and these are supposed to only show 5-10hp/tq increases. Maybe the sound will make you think it's faster.

Wow that is bizarre? They do show 47.99 for 75002, it still shows 37.99 for zip code 92677 and I did indeed buy them for that price. I would call the local autozone near you and talk to them and see what they say?

Ok, I've found the fix on how to get it for 37.99. Go ahead and add the filter for $47.99 to the shopping cart. Next advance to the shopping cart screen. In the "My Local Store" section choose another store till you see the 37.99. Then change the qty to 2 since you need two. Shipping will be free since it's over 75. Done.

I just bought Renntech's airbox and I noticed that they have the green filters in them. Are all green filters the same or some differ from others. I just have a hard time believing that Renntech would put "garbage" in their airbox. It seems most do agree that green filters are not the preferred choice among members. I wonder if the K&N's will fit inside Renntech's airbox, anyone know?

GREEN AIR FILTERS:
Here's my experience....
I've been running 2 #2240 Green Air Filters in My CLK(s) since close to 2002, so almost 7 years. I have oiled them perhaps once per year.
I actually have them out drying right now from one of the cars. I went a bit crazy on the re-oiling so they have been drying for about 3 days now in my garage. It would be quicker if I left them outside in the open but there is alot of sand blowing around where I live.
I will put them back in this weekend. I do not recommend drying them in the sun (K/N filters included) as it can shrink the cotton material inside.
My filters are not falling apart whatsoever. I picked Green over K & K as I had read that Green's are manufactured better than the K & N (which have more jagged edges which impedes airflow).
I would buy Green's again in a heart beat. I have owned K & N's in the past with my Camaros/Trans Ams - didn't have any issues either.

When installing K&N filters in my 2007 E63 (just got it) I noticed a what appears to be a secondary charcoal filter in the filter holder- looks like a cabin air filter. What's the purpose of this filter and do I need it with the K&N's? Never seen one if these in any car I've owned before. Looks like it restricts air flow.

I was just about to find this post , but then it got bumped. Any ways I just installed my new VRP Intake and put K&N's into the new box. But when I was taking the old box off I removed the lids and found that my green filters rubber fitting had dry rotted and the whole fitler had fallen down to the bottom of the box so half of the intake tube was block by the filter and the other half was unfiltered air going in to my TB. SO BEWARE OF THE GREEN FILTERS!!!!!!!!!

I've had the same problems w/greens on my c32 that I had a few years ago. I just went w/AFE filters (a lot of diesel guys use them) and they are great. The quality looks much better then the k&n's I had on before and they fit perfectly. I will keep updated if anything goes wrong.
