Driver's headlight too low, dealer says adjustment screw is broken, not warrantied!
The dealer says the adjustment screw is broken due to "collision or other physical damage" (one of my Parktronic sensors is pushed in a bit too, so someone may have backed into me apparently), and not covered by my CPO warranty.
The charge for this is $1500 for the headlight, $229 for the sensor, and $220 labor. Service tech says I could probably get this covered through comprehensive insurance.
Is there any way to raise the driver's side headlight other than doing all of this? Any way to raise it through STAR? The tech mentioned that the height is determined from a sensor on the lower control arm, and I don't see why there's no way that can't just be fooled into raising the headlight level a few inches.
It's hazardous for me to drive the vehicle at night the way it is. When I first got the car, the beam pattern was in a __/----- form, which is fine, but now the left (driver) side is FAR too low. I'm not sure when the change happened, but it wasn't like this when I first got the car.
What's the best solution here? Any way to fool/trick/jimmyrig the car into raising the driver side headlight level, or would it be better to try and buy a used driver's side headlight housing? ARGH!
