Oh, about the 997 turbo and the GTR....

I was starting to succumb to the influence of the GTR and starting doing my own research. There are great products out there for the GTR that make the car truly an incredible supercar. My first mind tells me 997 turbo or GT3 as the next step in my journey for a life filled with great car experiences. Then there is the GTR. A car that truly fits the title of legendary. So, I came across this video and was moved by power displayed by Porsche. I hope someday soon I too will be able to experience this in person.

Less, IMHO. No one really knows what a stage II is with a GT-R as the modding definitions are realitively new. Id fathom a guess at a midpipe and Cobb tune which is a 125-127mph trapper and the car runs or will run better up top than a stocker.

580 hp would be closer to an HKS GT570 package and those cars run high 120's to low 130's in the quarter and can maintain solid speed increases to 300 kph.

So actually the GT-R held its own against the Switzer car for a short period of time

The Switzer car is a low 130 trapper I believe.

With all the tranny talk, how has your modded GT-R's tranny been holding up? Any problems with it?

Your worst nightmare...
The GT-R is definitely fast but the power of the 997SPI is too much. Definitely uneven contenders due to the difference in power levels.

Wow, now that is a HD camera...

Damn dont jinx me... j/k. Its just fine and I have the new software so things are covered. It also doesnt hurt that I have 2 friends that own and/or run Nissan stores. I dont use the l/c, never have, you really dont need it on this car with AWD and the way the turbos spoil up. It really is just mash and go and turn and roar!!

Yep, apples and oranges completely but still a good race for a short period of time

That GTR held on incredibly well for the estimated power differential I think....

Thanks Vic...guess my only chance on the streets is to scare GT-R owners from racing me! LOL

Next time I get challenged by one, I'll say "well, if you want your tranny to blow up then be my guest" haha. Glad to know that you aren't having any problems though. Good luck with it. F'in sick stable bro.

Drives Slowly
Nice Vid. I just noticed this stage II GTR vs M6 (stroked engine) when I clicked on....... have not seen this one before. I expected to M6 to pull as speeds increased.

There are a lot if vids out there of modded GTRs. The question is has the limits of the GTR been reached? Probably not. I am sure HKS will come up with something eventually. For now the porsche is ahead in the mod game until we start see modded ZR1s pushing a grand. A mod vs. mod car in my book if a fair race because there are other factors that can give a car an edge besides horse power and street races are so subjective that they don't mean anything. Either way it is a good vid and an interesting race.

HKS GT600 kit is available.

The Switzer SP800 (707awhp) is available. I believe the lesser model was tested and it ran a 3.0 0-60.

The tranny on the GT-R is perfectly fine. As long as you don't run 600 hp to it, and then run it hard. IMO the GT-R with some G2s and a Ti exhaust is all you need, and still covered under warranty.

Once the warranty goes, SP800 and a SSP or PPI 1st gear. Hell, by then there will be a complete aftermarket DCT for the GT-R. It won't cost 20k either.

Nissan GT-R cobb/midpipe/ic piping/wastegate actuators/tials
The price difference of those two cars is insane- but I guess I can see why they are being compared. I love them both!

My GTR with no aftermarket parts- nothing done to it... needed to have the tranny replaced with only 1300 miles on it...

disappointing, but nissan warrantied the whole thing... after 2 weeks in the shop i just got it back... everything seems to be running ok
