8E in San Diego coming from the beach area ran into a CTS-V on the way to work
Once he took off the smoke puffed out his exhasut and we were off. I had my AC on and was shifting via the paddles. To my surprise I was able to catch and pull on him rather easily. Granted this was from a roll starting at around 80mph, my car is heavily modified and I don't really know how much he was pushing it but why would he not. He got off one exit prior to mine so I was not able to pull up next to him. I hope I see him again soon, maybe this time I can pull up next to him and give it another go.
I'm sure more data will be coming through within the next few months.

Having watched a few videos.. the CTS-v is slighly faster than a XFR and the XFR is slighly faster than the E55. (Based on Motrends video and Gustav's videos)
The XFR is almost as fast a M5 on highway pull, the M5 needed exhaust and ECU tune just to barely beat a stock XFR. (based on Gustav's videos)
stock vs stock I would say an E55 would not be able to pull on a CTS-V, due to the slower trans, 1 less gear, lower HP.
If I have the oppornity to get out under my E55, I would pick up a used CTS-V without hesitation. Its a great car, but I'm happy with my 6 year old car, still keep up when needed.
I do believe it would be a close race with a stock V versus a stock E55 with really the driver making the difference, not the car itself.
