I have an 05 E55 and when I try to close the trunk, it starts to close and about 2/3 way down, it will open back up. I don't have the key w/ me either. I'll have to play around w/ the trunk button from inside the car for it to fully close. Any idea what the problem might be?

Hinge bolt may have fallen off.

visually checked everything. Nothing seems odd

You have to pull the covers off. It happened to me once. Fixed under warranty.
