2005 v 2006 E55?

Hello all. I've been snooping for a while and just joined the forum. I'm a BMW 3-series owner with plans to switch to an E55. I'd appreciate your opinions and feedback on the differences/changes/updates to the E55 from the 2005 to 2006 model year? I can't really spot the cosmetic changes, if any? Any options, etc that came out in '06? Thanks.

hmm, I'm pretty sure the changes came in 06. Well for the e320 and e500's. Not 100% on amg.

Yup you are right, looked it up. I guess I assumed the e500 changed to e550 because of the e320 change.

I have an 05 and my friend has an 06, the only difference we have noticed were the plastic covers under the hood up by the hood vents (no clue what they are called) and the head lights have a different reflective design on the upper part where the blinker is but its not much. Other than that the car is the same. 05 as far as I know is when the bigger intercooler came out and the gauge was changed from 160mph to 200mph. Not sure what else was changed but it doesn't matter between 05 and 06.

Good feedback, thanks guys. The deals on 2005's seem pretty hard to pass up. I hope to join your family soon. Will be back in touch once I make a purchase.

Out of curiosity, they changed something on the headlights from '05 to '06?

No the headlights are the same it's just the reflective part above his headlights where the blinker is isn't smooth like mine. Not sure why and it's nothing major, it was just one of those things we noticed with the cars next to each other. I don't think there is anything dramatically difference between an 05 and 06

The console was changed during the 05 year also...so the 06 will have the newer console for sure as well.

correct... early 2005 models (like mine) still have the clam shell center console while mid-late 05 models and all 06 models have a slideing center console...

Also mid-late model 05-06 have cls amg suspension... early 05 models don't have it...
