Brake noise

This noise started yesterday, When im driving and i press the brake pedal i start to get a noise from the brakes like the pads are low.
The noise is not a squeak or squealing type noise.

I had my wheels of last week so i know i have half a pad at the front an just less than half a pad at the rear.

Any ideas what the noise could be?
My car has 64000miles on it.

Does anyone know if you can use some sandpaper on our cross drilled brake discs to give them a clean up and the pads.
Thanks.

It could be your rotors are getting close to needing changing. I'm going through my first brake job on my E55 so I've been doing a lot of reading. However, I haven't run in to what you are talking about on my Benz, but...I've had something similar on my previous BMW. It almost sounded like a grinding, for lack of a better way of putting it.
