Skratch77, I didn't notice any negative effect since i switched to the Akebonos just no more dust in 2-week period. To me it brakes slightly better than the OEM ones since i almost peeled my face of the first time i gave it about 70%. I am even more confident since it does not fade also and isn't killing my rotors any worse than oem would. I'm sure there are some more alternatives but these gave me what I wanted, for a good price and install was straight-forward.

i vaguely remember the change in pedal feel, but you'll definitely feel the weight loss.

Guys,

As I'm approaching 40k miles on my E55 need some advice. My brakes appear to be fine so I was just thinking of changing out the pads. But as the prices you've all listed are realtively inexpensive would you recommend, new pads, rotors and sensors just to be sure, or are pads and sensors by themselves OK?

I guess my real question to you all is are the rotors pretty bullet proof, so just doing pads is OK? Also if I just do pads should I also do 4 new sensors all the way around?

Great thread by the way. Brakes and tires are critical to any car, especially our car so I want to make sure I get this just right.

Thanks again!

Alex

*Bump* any advice for me? Pads/Senors OK or should I do rotors too? My car is approaching 40K miles and this is the first pad/rotor change.

Thanks.

In the SRT8 world the factory pads are semi metallic......like the factory MB pads.

Satisfied makes a low dust pad that stops very well and very comparable to factory semi metalics. Most non factory are ceramic and much easier on rotors that factory pads.

Satisfied GS6

You will need to measure the rotor thickness to see if the rotors need to be replaced. If you want to measure them, then give us a call we can let you know what you need to replace.
