Post E55 Major Repairs?

Well i'm back in an E55 again. 2006 loaded… Should arrive in Honolulu September 15. I had a 2004 but sold it a while back. It never gave me any REAL problems and with this 2006 I’m hoping they resolved any other issues…

The car I bought is a CPO 1 year warranty from Monday with 40k miles on the clock. They are offering an additional 2 yr (3 total) but I haven’t pulled the trigger on that just yet.

I have searched and there are not to many horror stories (stock cars) with Major Repairs, over $3,000 on one specific job. I’ve seen a couple of blown up motors but it seems rare.

Okay now to question(s) of the day…

1. Anyone had a Major Repair to their 55 beast? What was it?

2. Was the repair within the Warranty period?

I appreciate any input or experience you have to share.

2006 is probably the best year of all 55s.

You should not have any major issues.

Enjoy!

You would be silly NOT (or rather "best advised") to purchase the additional warranty as it will be money back to you if you decide to sell the car before this warranty has expired.

What is your definition of "Major Repair"? My '06 just had over $5,000 of warranty work...repairs to the Dynamic seats (pumps and lines) and also complete replacement of the Command unit and a paint blemish.

Does this car have the problems the S-class has with regards to ABC (pumps)? It seems the (air) suspension has a few problems, but I am a noob and would hope someone with more knowledge would jump in and clarify.

Spudslatte… That really sucks! How did they know it needed rebuild? They don’t have to take out the supercharger to install the throttle body right?

slownrusty “…(stock cars) with Major Repairs, over $3,000 on one specific job.” … From my original post… Man I got the dynamic seats as well! Crap…

D_Nyholm… My dad has an ’04 with something like 52k on the odometer and no issues (yet) with the air suspension…

Vadim… Thanks I still got my eye on your mid-pipe and x-pipe so I can get rid of the secondary cats and the ugly stock H-pipe. Thanks!

not really well versed in the mechanics of the unit - it apparently was very worn - the perf shop that does my Kleeman stuff advised me and I trust the guys - wish I had not dumped the Chrysler warranty though - not sure about having to remove the device to get to throttle body - someone far more tecchy than me could answer that
