Split Cooling IC Circuit - Input Needed

Cooling setup: aux heat exchanger made by PTE and it is going to be connected in series with a meziere wp139 pump.
Car is in houston where it get hot during the summer.
My question: is it worth the hassle to split the ic cooling system. I know bleeding a split system is a pita. Will I see significant drop in IATs.

I want your opinions.

We see about 5-degree (c) drop in IAT from splitting the circuit on the 55K.....enough to make it worthwhile, IMO.

shardul:

I had the vrus IC cooling system on my E55 and it split the two cooling systems and this was 1/2 of the advantage by keeping the regular cooling system independent from the IC system. The vrus system also had about 50% more cooling capacity and a water resevoir.

In my opinion this is the only way to go by keeping the 2 systems independent from each other.

Split system is the only way to go.

Ok will do a split cooling system. How do you bleed the system. Some people say it is harder.

Great buy on the mezziere pump! Great pumps. Plan to go to that pump soon myself.

Make sure you give us some data log results on your new system..

Just listen to the E55 cooling experts. My CL has a different stock system and virtually no cross contamination. For me,,, no split but may help you..

bump on this thread...

even though summer is almost over, I still want to splic my IC system.

Shardul: Can you post the size of hoses, clamps and plug you will use for your project?

Also which reservoir tank are you going with.

Seem pretty straight forward.. the return line from the IC has a "T" couple to joing with the engine coolant.

The question I have is: Does the reservoir take in "hot coolant" from the IC? and then the IC pump pulls the water out to the HE and back to the IC core?

I will post pics and sizes of the tubes and plugs.
From what I understand the reservior in the engine bay has a single line and it is used as a fill point only doesnot circulate fliud.

If we ran a line from the IC Circuit bleeder (covered with a 5/16 - 6-8mm hose cap on the hard pipe going into the IC) to the cap on a reservoir would it bleed itself like a Cobra? I'm guessing we'd need a radiator style cap, but it seems everything else is in line...

i have a question regarding splitting the cooling system.
when splitting the cooling system, PTE thermostat, -10 degree fan, adding the engine reservoir, upgraded HE, and cm30 pump:

is it better to have the pump hooked up the way the OEM pump is connected? (the car's ecu tells the pump to turn on when it needs it) or to have the pump on all the time? (like in the DIY thread)

I have the LET larger HE on my car and the standard system.

One of the "issues" I've heard of with a split system is that you lose the option to heat your car with the A/C system. If this is true, it's certainly something that should be known up front to a potential buyer.

Any comments?

I think what he is saying is that the heater pump runs inline with the I/C lines and when you split the systems and since the coolant no longer gets as hot, you loose effectiveness in your heating system.

Y'all should just ditch the S/C and run turbos. Intercooling is way less of a hassle.
